A true wonderful guy you are, lmfaooooooooooooooooo. What comes around in life goes around and that somebodys miserey which you are feeding off now, will come back to haunt you 10 fold, hope its worth if for you.

I would like some feedback in what ways people have found to make money in betting games when you dont cap the games themselves. I'm sure there are a lot of people who visit this forum just to follow others and toss in a few games a week on their own.

From past experience I look at 3-5 guys across the forum and pick some decent plays but 8 times out of 10 i'll end up having a bad day. What kind of successes have you guys found and what types of strategies work the best?

Looking for some help here as I've been wagering on sports for about 4 years now and still coming up shaky at the end of the weeks.

Thank you for the input.

Chameleon,
Here is something I thinf is most important about your inquiry. You must determine who you are going to folllow and stick with them. If you try to follow several different cappers your bankroll will suffer.

Example: Mike Chad and Steam Maker are both good cappers in the NBA as are several others. Tonight Steam is on Detroit and Mike is on the other side with Washington. Let's say both of these guys average between 55 and 60 per cent on the year. Winning per centages, right? If you play some of Mikes picks and some of Steams picks, what is the winning % of those plays? It could be much lower than you think.

Now if you have stayed with Mike all year you are winning. Same with Steam, Tate and others. But try not to combine their picks. If you are not an experienced player I would advise not following someone like Steam Maker unless you are going to stay with him night and day. Especially if you are not on the Don Best board. Steam plays numerous half time plays, steam moves, and middles. He's a great capper, just not an easy capper if you are following.

That's not to say you shouldn't read Steams threads or anyone elses for that matter. This is a great place to educate yourself. Just don't get caught up in the maize of opinions. GL

I agree with your post and some solid points. The only problem is that Mike has been on a nice climb for the past few months, to start with him now worries me a little. He has a great percentage and by how much is he going to increase it in the next few months? Also if i'm betting a bill a play then what if Mike has a bad day or a bad two days the time I decide to start with him. Well then I'm gonna have some explaining to do to my local.

More comments appreciated...

Like everyone else has said on here, it's all about timing. are you willing to take that chance of joining in when a guy is on a cold streak, or did you get in when he is hot? Timing baby Timing!:103631605

I'm not saying you should follow Mike or anyone else. I just wanted to make a point that you should not try to follow several players at once. Just try to learn from everyone in the forum.

A few questions if you don't mind. How long have you been wagering? And, do you fully understand the the basics of sound money management.

If not, don't be afraid to ask. You can be the greatest capper in the world, but if you cannnot master money magement you will be a loser for life. Sound money management is perhaps 75% of successful wagering. Picking winners is not nearly as important as you may think.

Here's a condensed version. I'm sure others here will have different opinions, but most will stay close to this.

#1
Have a bankroll. Your wagering bankroll should be money that is is set aside for no other purpose. It should be money that if you lost it all, it would not affect your life one bit. If the money you are wagering with is needed for anything else such as rent, car, food or whatever, it will end up with the bookie. Why? Because if you really need to win money you will make poor decisions.

#2
Wager only a small percentage of your bankroll on each game. I think 2% is a good number. $5,000.00 BR = $100.00 wager. Some players with huge bankrolls only wager 1%. Some with smaller BR's wager 3-5%. I say never ever more than 5%.

#3
Never put a large % of your bankroll at risk at any one time. Some say 15%, some say more, some less. I think 15% is a good figure. So if you have a $5000.00 BR, do not have more than $750.00 at risk at any given time. That means you could play 6-7 games tonight, risking $110.00 each.

#4
Always get the best number. Have several offshore accounts and perhaps a local bookie too. That extra 1/2 point is so important. Especially in hoops.

#5
Stay away from parlays and junk bets. Teasers are OK in NFL, but you should know what you are doing.

#6
Discipline, discipline, discipline

These are the baics, mine anyhow. I could write a book on this, (actually I have) but if you stay close to this you will be fine. GL

This is very sound, solid money managment advice. I rarely wager more than 2 percent, but I have wagered 3 or 5 on select occasions. Never 5 percent in college basketball, though. In football, especially college, there are 5 percent bets, IMO.

This hot and cold streak stuff is bunch of bs. Even if you hit 60% every game you will have many losses in a row sooner or later. It has nothing to do with "being cold".

Closer...Don Best is a 'live lines' type of service that will show you what are the lines at across many books. This of course is a service you have to pay for monthly.
