Personally, think O. State should be there instead of Sparty. But that's the way the playoff goes. Yeah, I was reading it again last night and was amazed at his predictions....not coming close to form. Guess he never heard of a guy named Baker Mayfield, LOL.

~T~

If Rudolph would have started against OU and OU won that might have been more impressive. Mayfield now has much more motivation as the Clemson QB made the Heisman cut and he did not. I have a feeling when all is said and done many will be wanting to know how he was not at least invited to NYC. Many OU teams have shown up to bowls unmotivated but that will not be the case here. They will be healthy and will be throwing in some new wrinkles I am sure. I am not taking Clemson for granted I just think that OU may have their best game of the year against them.

NORMAN — Oklahoma junior Baker Mayfield was named one of five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2015 Player of the Year award Wednesday.
Joining Mayfield on the list of finalists are fellow quarterback Deshaun Watson (Clemson), running backs Derrick Henry (Alabama) and Christian McCaffrey (Stanford), and defensive back Desmond King (Iowa).
The 2015 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, who is selected by the Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 10 during the 5 p.m. CT edition of ESPN SportsCenter.
The winner will receive his trophy at the Foundation's annual national awards banquet on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the Yale University Commons in New Haven, Conn. Former University of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota won the award last year.
Mayfield, who has directed OU to a 5-0 record against AP Top 25 teams (3-0 on the road), ranks No. 2 nationally in yards per pass attempt (9.6), No. 3 in pass efficiency rating (178.9), No. 5 in passing TDs (35), No. 6 in points responsible for per game (21.0) and No. 8 in pass completion percentage (.686).
He has piloted Sooners to seven straight wins (they are averaging a nation-leading 52.0 points per game during the stretch) and has accounted for 42 touchdowns and only five turnovers (8.4 to 1 ratio) on the season. OU has surpassed 500 yards of total offense in nine of 12 games, including in each of the last seven.
Mayfield has thrown for at least one touchdown in all 12 games and for at least three TDs in eight contests. He has also rushed for 420 yards and seven scores.
Walter Camp, "The Father of American football," first selected an All-America team in 1889. A former Yale University athlete and football coach, Camp is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to 11 men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and continue the tradition of selecting an annual All-America team.
[h=3]Mayfield Named Manning Award Finalist[/h]The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, announced 12 finalists for this year's award on Wednesday and Mayfield is on the list.
The winner will be announced after the bowls in January and will be honored at a ceremony in New Orleans. The Manning Award was created in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
[h=3]Manning Award Finalists[/h]Brandon Allen, Sr., Arkansas

Connor Cook, Sr., Michigan State
Brandon Doughty, Sr., Western Kentucky

Kid is the real deal Russ, look at his numbers....... they don't lie. Probably the best OU QB I've liked in decades, and I've witnessed a few, LOL.

Oklahoma OC Lincoln Riley won this year's Broyles Award. During the ceremony he sat next to Brent Venables. Who would have thunk it. LOL

Also OU Center Ty Darlington won the Campbell and Weurffel Awards.

Three OU players also are now All-Americans: Baker Mayfield, Sterling Shepard, and Zack Sanchez

BIG $$$ didn't want BAMA & OU out the gate they want that for the BIG GAME for the BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Plus they wanted an easier path for BAMA & a REMATCH with OU & Clemson to put the hurt on Clemson. They don't want the TIGERS in the C-Game ....... The playoffs are ran by BIG SCHOOLS with BIG$$$$ and BIG FAN Base to spend LOTS of MONEY stimulating the economy of these Bowl locations. Its ALL ABOUT BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !!

Clemson adds a new player to the pot of $$$. SORRY ONLY SO MUCH ROOM at the TOP. Ask Bill Gates & Warren Buffett . The top pt. of a pymamid doesn't allow to many players to stand.

I saw that, LOL. BUT, imagine if we'd had Venables instead of Mike. My God, could have been the best OU team ever. Phucking brotherly love.

I don't know, maybe GS could chime in here. I was a season ticket holder for over 20 years. Lived through horseshit like the Blake years. Venables is a good defensive coach, anyone want to argue that with me, BRING IT! I drank drink with the Boz, and another of good players. I don't know this team because I moved, but based on what I'm seeing on the screen, I likes it. I wish all on the RX a good bowling season. Just don't bet against the Sooners.

I did not pick OU to make the final 4 because I am a homer though. When I really got into looking over their talent and depth and the positive coaching changes I thought OU could improve as the season progressed. I am not anti O-State for instance but I do root for OU when they play each other. I thought Mayfield would be a big improvement but he exceeded my expectations. The defense made changes and improved big time. But the attitude in Norman has changed significantly and Mayfield played a key role.
One thing about Venables and last years wins. Last year OU was on a downer going into the game and Venables was well acquainted with their offensive tendencies. This year is a different story as OU made a vast improvement with their new OC. Venables will not have that same advantage going into this year's matchup. In addition I look for OU to add some stuff to their offense just for the bowl. One big play could be the difference in this year's matchup and TO's could be also. If Clemson thinks they are going to face the same OU they faced last year they will be in for a big surprise that is for sure. OU is highly motivated and focused, not saying Clemson is not, just saying I think Clemson will be a little shocked this time around.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Preaching to the choir my good friend, preaching to the choir. If that ass whipping they took last year isn't still stinging the guys that played in that game, then they don't deserve to be on the field Dec. 31st. You beat me like a drum once, I'm a' coming the second go-around.

OU would be favored, here are some key stats"

OU averaged scoring 45.8 ppg and allowed an average of 20.8 ppg for an avg pt diff of 15 ppg.

Ohio St averaged scoring 35 ppg and allowed an average of 14 ppg for an avg pt diff of 21 ppg.

OU was ranked #1 in SOS and Ohio St #36.

So the line would be right about where it is with Clemson.

Top wide receiver Artavis Scott of the No. 1 Clemson Tigers recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee.

That's why I don't give Vegasinsider any credit. ESPN's Power Index has OU at 39%, BAMA at 33% and the rest well below. I got some early money on them as well, enough to cover a good night in Vegas, LOL.
