The shove call was postflop though...

If you all reconstruct the pot using the numbers then by the time the dude shoved after flop , I dont see what other choice you have....now you are getting 3 to 1 .
BB said the post was over 1k, so that mean it went something like this preflop
....... 2/5 raise to 25 , call, call, call, reraise to 450,,,,fold fold fold call

The way I see it is if you are gonna make such a big call preflop then when the flop comes dry like that you certainly cant fold by that point.
No way I'm putting 90 BBs in pre flop with 77.

It was absolutely awful :
That’s not how you judge if you made the right play or not .

It was bad by both players .
But of the 2 if I had to pick the worst of the 2 it would be BB
Everyone’s okay was erratic. Crazy table. I played a 1/2 table like that in Vegas a few years back.

I picked my spot and the 3ish to 1 was worth it in my opinion. I could slowed my roll a little. The guy that shoved was playing any and everything. He shoved all in way to quick. I knew it wasn’t the best call in the world, but I was ahead and read him right.

Far from awful.

Terrible play to shove your stack in pre flop with 77. Yeah, he "guessed" right that he had two overcards with the AK, but even then he's looking at a coin flip. You have to consider ranges in making decisions, and not try to put someone on one particular hand.

Roughly speaking, he was maybe 40% up against an overpair (crushed) 50% against two overcards (coin flip) 10% against an under pair (crushing).
Against that range 77 is going to get crushed.

They guy could be spewing with 89 suited, and even then, you're looking at a coin flip. I'm probably folding pocket nines there, and going to have a tough decision with pocket tens - and probably would call, but not be happy about it with pocket jacks.

So it was the right play based on the pot size. It's post flop and based on your analysis roughly 40% of the time he's crushed and 60% he's dominating (overcards post flop is roughly 26%) Getting 3 to 1 on his money he's gotta call. Now the pre-flop play that's another issue.

I have a few times on bodog, I probably won't anymore. They go all-in with A-10 and up, also with K-Q. .25/.50 game buy-in 50 bucks. They push with that range. High pockets they always raise about 7 to 10 blinds as to not scare away all the players. Truth be told I'm a winning player (barely) in limit poker, but getting killed in no-limit! Pot variance is too huge in no-limit. According to drivehud, the poker software I use, I win nearly 80% of the times when I'm holding A-K but I'm down money! This would never happen in a limit game. My A-K loses frequently to A rag on big pots!

With that hand. I'm down money playing A-K over the course of 100,000 hands.

Dang. Maybe I need to head over there. At Global, you don't see as much of that pre-flop pushing with trash.

I'd be interested to hear all of the pre-flop action and how the pot ballooned to where it was (over $1k in a 2/5 game) pre-flop.

There’s nothing to really explain other than I should have walked. I played at a 1/2 table like this in Vegas. One bet triggered raises out the ass.

i folded for a while every hand, picked my spot and lost. Tables like these are money or misery. Everyone just got paid from their job and was trying to double it. Sick
