Whatever happened to Mexico paying for this...i thought it was going to be "so easy" to make them fund it.
.another fool who thought the only way for Mexico to pay for the wall is for them to cut a check.....we get stuck with a 100 billion plus a year with illegal imigration.. so when the wall is up , and drastically cuts back on illegal crossings , the billions spent on the wall will actually save many billions more ..so essentially Mexico will be paying for it .. not rocket science for common sense folk..
You probably haven’t spent much time in McAllen then Lanquel.
.
I have happily visited far South Texas many times, going back to the early 1980s
But hey if you want to draw a cocentric circle w 400 mile diameter (200 mile half circle) with McAllen as your apex, you are barely touching the outskirts of San Antonio and you are still 150 miles from Houston. Basically you would be looking at approx 3% of Texas land mass.
Meanwhile, count me as one Democrat who is overjoyed to see current Dem bigwigs heading out the door during coming decade. The next 35 years of my life will see smart leadership in public offices from people currently aged 25-55.
Most will be Democrats, but many will likely be GOP.
And to survive in that latter bunch will require an abandonment of the hysterical xenophobia being promoted by Tiny and the approx 35% of Americans who embrace his attitudes
Not excusing hysterical xenophobia but what do you expect when you bring 1.5-2m people here a year with minimal regard for self-sufficiency and assimilation? It's going to cause a ton of societal stress in various ways. It's a pretty natural and predictable reaction. And it's one of the main reasons Trump won obviously.
Like I said in a previous post, immigration can be a great boon for this country but it has to be a policy that will benefit the natives or else it won't be sustainable long-term. And I don't think our current policies do that.
The notion that 1.5m people (that's 4000+ every 24 hrs) are entering illegally every year seems far-fetched but regardless, if you personally perceive this matter as being a high priority to combat, I encourage you to stay the course.
I and my fellow Dems, along with the vast majority of indy voters see a lengthy list of topics that draw our attention moreso and perhaps that may explain why - 24 months after being elected - almost none of trump's demands re immigration are gaining much traction
1.5-2m includes legal immigration as well. H2B's, diversity lottery, chain migration.
I think issues like wages, healthcare, education, housing, crime would all be easier to fix with better immigration policies. Issues Dems claim to care about.
Take Trump's over the top bluster out of the equation and who supports mass migration the most? The donor classes of both parties rather than the people. Polls clearly show the voters in both parties are to the right of the establishmentarians on this subject.
You've formed an unholy alliance with rent seeking billionaires Lanquel!
