I'm not here to make a ruling, as it is not one that I have the authority to make. I will present some facts, however, that might serve to weaken the arguement that chach has so boldly presented. First of all, I don't know Crazy Ivan from Adam, or anyone else for that matter, so I can assure you there was no sexual activity going on so you can quash that theory. Now, as we all know, the forum experienced some down time thoughout the year, and most contests were affected by these occurrences in one way or another. I have a record on file of every play that was made in this contest and I CAN say that there was
ONE and ONLY ONE instance where this contest was canceled and the day's picks did not count. Not numerous times, as chach has intimated. The forum was down for about 26 hours between 9:30Am and 11:30Am on 3/19-3/20 and a ruling was made by The General that March 19 & 20 would be canceled and any picks made on 3/19 would be no action.
Here are the plays made in the March 19th picks thread that were ruled no action:

This is the decision to cancel March 19th & 20th:

Obviously, some people benefitted by the decision while others did not.
I had absolutely no say in the matter, although, it seemed to be a no-brainer, since the time available to make picks that day was cut by 11 hours. In this case, we're talking about 10 minutes, which left ample time beforehand to post plays as evidenced by the numerous others who were able to do so.
On a couple of occasions during the year, namely Christmas and the All-Star break, I gave all contestants the option to add make-up days to compensate for the days with no games scheduled during those time periods. I didn't have to do this, but I did and I sensed that most welcomed the opportunity. Might I also point out that I made an offer to make up the ONLY 2 days we lost in March with make-up picks on Mar 21-22. Some took me up on the offer, some did not. My records show that chach did not.

I also show that chach made a total of 2 plays between Jan 21 and Mar 22. Totally his perogative, but it's not like he didn't have a chance to make plays. Whether he felt he had such a big lead on the others and became complacent or just didn't feel he had confidence enough in his ability to increase that lead, we can only surmise. Judging by
this statement, it would appear complacency had set in, since confidence was surely plentiful. He still had cmogly to contend with, though. We all knew he wasn't going to play the waiting game forever. And of course, we all remember
the huge favorite Philly Flyer plays that cost him a bundle. 'Nuff said there. In summary, the fact that the downtime was for such a short period of time cannot be used as a criteria for canceling the entire day of picks as was done in mid-March. Those who made picks should not be penalized for making their picks on time and likewise, should not be at a disadvantage if ONE person is given a chance to, in some way, make up for an opportunity lost. I have no idea what you expect me to do in this case. If V-Wager has an alternative solution, more power to you. All I know is, it's out of my hands. From my perspective, this contest is history.
By the way, I've graded a total of 12,585 plays in this contest, not to mention easily over 10,000 plays in the 3 basketball contests in the NBA forum. Someone, I can't remember who, mentioned their displeasure with not being able to make up to 5 plays/day here like they did last year. If that were the case, you probably could've added another 8000 plays overall. No big deal. I'll just spend another hour and a half a day grading. All I know is, it takes a huge effort to grade these contests, and accuracy is one of the most important ingredients. Out of all those plays mentioned, I saw very few complaints that their scores were incorrectly graded. Whether, they didn't bother checking, or had no just cause to do so I don't know. I tend to lean toward the latter. Allow me to blow my own horn here, but I challenge anyone to come forward and do a better job next year. The opportunity may very well exist. Thanks to all who showed their appreciation. Those comments really did hit home.
