8/19 - San Marino is tied for the worst senior team in the world in FIFA rankings and Moldova isn't much better. Expect both teams to walk over these two minnows.

God damn it, second time I am saying this but this time for real, I am done with action plays. F*ing Germany gives up an early own goal and can't score against f*ing Moldova. Still down 1-0 in the 60th.

8/19 Results - You said it Cleo, Germany average 4+ goals per game in their other 5 qualifiers too. Unbelievable. Last stat driven play where I don't know anything else about the teams I make, last action too. Wow.

8/20 - Few thoughts on these games:

- Italy's first game with Lippi back in charge. He has said he will be playing an attacking formation likely with 3 forwards and played good attacking football (with positive results and goals) last time he was in charge. Game is in Nice, which is very close to the Italian border, so expect a pro-Azzurri crowd and Italian players out to impress Lippi to earn spots.
- Portugal is playing the Faroes at home, speaks for itself.
- Mexico is in a similar situation to Italy with the new coach, though they are playing an important WC qualifier at their preferred stadium (Azteca). Very important game for the team, players and coach, expect them to come out strong. SGE also called up Blanco who can still bring it and is probably Mexico's best creative player.
- Costa Rica - following Tapa Rosca on that one.
- Germany - although Loew has said he will give some fringe players a game they are vastly superior to Belgium and playing in Nuremburg, a stadium which I believe they have never lost in (may be wrong since I think the Italy/Germany WC semi was there, that may have been their first and only loss). Belgium also was thrashed by Italy in their last friendly before Euros. many of their best players are young and featuring at the Olympics. They still have a bronze medal game to play so none of their Olys guys will feature in this game.

- Italy -222/Germany -369/Portugal -3000/Italy -320/Costa Rica -240 - round robin of 2 and 3 team parlays for .5 units each - total risk of 10 units to win 9.1776
- Italy -1 -129/Portugal -3000 - 2.25 units
- Italy >2.5 +103/Portugal -3000 - 1 unit

Spain going with their WC squad sans Marchena and Fabregas who both have knocks. New coach, figure they are out to impress. Villa, Silva, Iniesta, Xavi and Torres all still in good form based on recently games/friendlies. The below is Spain +.5 at roughly -328

Adding:

- USA <2.5 -150 - 1 unit

US is 1-4-4 at Guatemala and hasn't won there in 20 years. 6 of the last 7 between these two have stayed under with only a 4-0 US friendly win in Texas going over. Comments by Landie Cakes indicate they are hoping for a draw and won't be playing a terribly offensive game.

"It's vital to get off to a good start: ideal world three points but at a minimum you want to get a point out of this game," U.S. forward Landon Donovan said. "In theory, we should beat a team like Guatemala. The reality is is playing in Guatemala becomes very difficult, and they use all the other factors besides soccer and talent on the field to their advantage, so the atmosphere, the crowd, the travel that we go through, the field, the temperatures there, those can all become excuses for us and benefit to them."

I'm going to be out of town this weekend so I am going to post a bit of information about two weekend games.

Spanish Supercopa Game 2:

Valencia beat Real Madrid 3-2 at Valencia last weekend and the second game of the tie is this weekend in Madrid. I wanted so badly to play the over in this game but historically the first games of the Supercopas were low scoring. Valencia had the 18th worst defense last year, only relegated Murcia and Levante gave up more goals. Conversely, Real had the best offense scoring 84 goals last year (only Barca and Sevilla had more than 70). Goals per game for each of them last year were 3.15 for Real and 2.89 for Valencia. Further, the second leg of the last 5 and 6 of the last 7 and 11 of the last 14 second legs have all had at least 3 goals scored in them. Also, 6 of the last 7 times the first leg ended with 1 team up 1 goal, the second leg had 3+ goals. Valencia having a one goal lead is almost an ideal situation to play the over. They are an attacking team with quality attacking players and a poor defense. Real has to come out attacking from the start. Definitely expect this game to go over.

Cruyff Shield - Netherlands

Similar numbers in this game as with the Supercopa. PSV and Feyenoord are the teams. This is a one game season opener like the Community Shield. 6 of the last 7 have had at least 3 goals, only last year didn't (1-0), 9 of 12 in total have had at least 3. PSV's league games last year had 2.61 gpg and Feyenoord had 3.09 and the Eredivisie is the highest scoring major league in Europe.

8/22 - I am heading out of town this weekend and won't be able to post so I want to get everything posted before leaving. Unfortunately I haven't yet made these plays so I don't have lines. I may end up passing on a couple if the lines are poor, but here is what I am planning to play. I will treat it as if I played all these at the lines I get or am quoted.

Saturday

Lyon -1 - 1 unit
Liverpool +.5/Arsenal +.5 - 5 units
Aston Villa PK - 2.5 units
Cruyff Shield > - 2 units

Sunday

Chelsea +.5 - 10 unit risk
Chelsea -1 - 3 units
Valencia > - 3 units

8/27 - Massive game for Liverpool today and they are home. They don't take care of business and they are OUT of the Champions League. I simply can't see them losing or tying this game. A scored draw also means they are out, so they absolutely have to push and play for the win.
