Low tax small government business friendly republicans had the white house from 3/4/21 until 3/4/33. and their non-confrontational stance toward bankers and business brought about the great depression.

The rich such as bankers and business have the brains and the power to take care of themselves its the common man that needs the government to look out for them.

I don't think it was public policy at all, and I have to point out that you didn't cite one single piece of legislation.

The market crashed in 1929 after an amazing run in the 20's, something that always happens after any boom in every market segment. Lots of net worth was lost, and many banks began failing. Without FDIC (something that actually helps bring stability), people lost everything when a bank failed, thus people ran to banks to withdraw money, causing even more banks to fail. Banks, not wanting to fail, stopped making loans, thus decreasing purchasing power and production capabilities, deepening the economic downturn. Throw in an horrific drought, and you have the perfect storm.

It wasn't any policy or legislation, it was growing pains.

You cannot legislate a perfect society or a perfect economy or a perfect life, shit happens. Economic data, as opposed to mythology, suggests FDR may have deepened and extended the depression.

The best thing he may have implemented was the FDIC, which prevents a run on banks which helped cause the great depression.

It's what you allow the business world to get away with. It is not legislation its attitude.

As far as your attitude its the same old rat wang denial. Your boys had the white house for 9years and the biggest depression the world has known hits and you fuck around with it for another 3 years before a Democrat takes over and gets us out of it and you have the gall to say that his actions prolonged it. Give a fucking break.

Attitude? well how can one debate that, eh?

It's always about emotions with you guys, not reality.

The country is now officially a country of attitude, and I always thought it was a country of laws, damn.

Let's some up Punter's argument. Attitude created the great depression, and the laws passed by FDR that gave us a double dipper had nothing to do with it.

OK, on to the Big Boom for me.

Ok attitude means the lack of any legislation that would help bring business under control. You know like the last 8 years.

Leaving it alone to the point of not even enforcing existing legislation has proven somewhat short of successful in the last year.
