"the cultural left who, by its failure to stone homosexuals to death in the public square , and its insistence on speaking so freely and having so much sex, provoked the violence of crazy muslims, giving them no choice but to kill us en masse"

Dinesh D'souza when speaking of sept 11th 2001.

Let's see the quote in context. Oh, and you conveniently left out the source, as usual.

I GUARANTEE you that when you find that quote in context, you'll find that he was not talking about literally stoning homosexuals in this country. But you flaming libtards already know that.

“In this book I make a claim that will seem startling at the outset. The cultural left in this country is responsible for causing 9/11. … In faulting the cultural left, I am not making the absurd accusation that this group blew up the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I am saying that the cultural left and its allies in Congress, the media, Hollywood, the nonprofit sector, and the universities are the primary cause of the volcano of anger toward America that is erupting from the Islamic world. The Muslims who carried out the 9/11 attacks were the product of this visceral rage—some of it based on legitimate concerns, some of it based on wrongful prejudice, but all of it fueled and encouraged by the cultural left. Thus without the cultural left, 9/11 would not have happened.

“I realize that this is a strong charge, one that no one has made before. But it is a neglected aspect of the 9/11 debate, and it is critical to understanding the current controversy over the ‘war against terrorism.’ … I intend to show that the left has actively fostered the intense hatred of America that has led to numerous attacks such as 9/11. If I am right, then no war against terrorism can be effectively fought using the left-wing premises that are now accepted doctrine among mainstream liberals and Democrats.”

Whenever Muslims charge that the war on terror is really a war against Islam, Americans hasten to assure them they are wrong. Yet as Dinesh D’Souza argues in this powerful and timely polemic, there really is a war against Islam. Only this war is not being waged by Christian conservatives bent on a moral crusade to impose democracy abroad but by the American cultural left, which for years has been vigorously exporting its domestic war against religion and traditional morality to the rest of the world.

D’Souza contends that the cultural left is responsible for 9/11 in two ways: by fostering a decadent and depraved American culture that angers and repulses other societies—especially traditional and religious ones— and by promoting, at home and abroad, an anti-American attitude that blames America for all the problems of the world.

Islamic anti-Americanism is not merely a reaction to U.S. foreign policy but is also rooted in a revulsion against what Muslims perceive to be the atheism and moral depravity of American popular culture. Muslims and other traditional people around the world allege that secular American values are being imposed on their societies and that these values undermine religious belief, weaken the traditional family, and corrupt the innocence of children. But it is not “America” that is doing this to them, it is the American cultural left. What traditional societies consider repulsive and immoral, the cultural left considers progressive and liberating.

Taking issue with those on the right who speak of a “clash of civilizations,” D’Souza argues that the war on terror is really a war for the hearts and minds of traditional Muslims—and traditional peoples everywhere. The only way to win the struggle with radical Islam is to convince traditional Muslims that America is on their side.

We are accustomed to thinking of the war on terror and the culture war as two distinct and separate struggles. D’Souza shows that they are really one and the same. Conservatives must recognize that the left is now allied with the Islamic radicals in a combined effort to defeat Bush’s war on terror. A whole new strategy is therefore needed to fight both wars. “In order to defeat the Islamic radicals abroad,” D’Souza writes, “we must defeat the enemy at home.”

Ummmmm....hey dummy...nobody even cares about the homosexual stuff. He blames the left for 9/11. now with all the outrage you guys show when a liberal blames a conservative for a shooting, surely you will make it know that this claim is completely ridiculous.

Im glad you posted this though. You can now see that he is even trumped michael moore.

I agree 100% with D'Souza that the left contributed to the Islamic hatred of American in this way:

D’Souza contends that the cultural left is responsible for 9/11 in two ways: by fostering a decadent and depraved American culture that angers and repulses other societies—especially traditional and religious ones— and by promoting, at home and abroad, an anti-American attitude that blames America for all the problems of the world.

Now, you and I both know that D'Souza doesn't solely blame libtardism for 9-11, but that doesn't fit quite as nicely into your little fairy tale story-line.

So you think an islamic terrorist is sitting around saying " i wasnt gonna go on this suicide mission, but that Al Franken pisses me off so much that i have to do it"

Do you realize how fucking stupid the entire premise of this clowns argument is? They hate americans and do not see liberal and conservatives.

on 9/11/2012, the left did exactly what D'Souza accused them of doing, they justified unjustified attacks and blamed it on a video produced in the United States

they apologized for our actions that they said led to those embassy attacks

fact, spin that bitches

PS: and I never even heard of D'Souza before. Comparing him to Michael Moore is laughable, like most arguments out of libtardville. And after reading the complete passage in Zit's post, he makes it clear it's his opinion, unlike Michael Moore who intentionally distorts facts and calls his lies the truth. Another significant difference that flies right over libtarded minds. They can't reason a lick to save their loved ones lives. We have to find a cure for that libtard gene.

I guess if we created a way to measure charlatans scale we could figure it out (but who cares, they're both scumbags) but I'm sure he doesn't believe half the shit he says either. Primary reason for 9/11 because declining morals in America? There is a certain type of person that is going to buy a 250 page book based on a theory like that. Selling said books to these people is a lot more lucrative than writing peer edited reviews in academia.

In the 90's he actually wrote a good book that reasoned why affirmative action was bad and it was well reviewed but as all these conservative loons findout it is better to just makeup insane theories about why terorrists hate us, fear monger by saying our President is sympathetic to terrorists and sell gold to paranoid old people at 30% markups. Unfortunately we're a country of 300 million people and selling about 800k books is a huge success so it is going to keep happening.

I mean this guy is a scumbag charlatan by any reasonable persons estimation.

If you want to make a point that conservative followers are smarter than liberals, make this 1....I think Fahrenheit did like 220M box office and 2016 only did like 30.

Patsfan, I don't know who he is, and hence I can only surmise he's not as big as Michael Moore (not sure if that pun is intended or not, kinda fell into place.) I don't know of his work, and I know the right has plenty of assholes too. I don't believe he's been given VIP status at a Republican National Convention either, which is very significant point.

what I did say is that the left did the very things he said they do after 9/11/2012, hence giving his argument about that particular issue some legs

Yeah I think the republicans actually did a good job of distancing themselves from him (i.e not at convention)

One decent point to be made about him and Moore is neither 1 of them got the job done. Both released movies few months prior to election and neither was successful in getting their target out of office. I'm not saying either deserved re-election but I think with these movies you kinda just get the low hanging fruit but most people aren't going to fall for it. Basically you court your audience, make a lot of $ but it comes and goes.

Doesn't mean Wil didn't have the time of his life getting lathered up with ky jelly while watching fahrenheit circa 2004 though.

You think the primary reason islamic terrorists hate us is cultural?

Dude he says "without the cultural left, 9/11 wouldn't have happened"

What are you even attempting to go to bat for?

Do I agree with his statement that "without the cultural left, 9/11 wouldn't have happened" ? It's clearly an unprovable statement, we will never know.

Do I agree with this statement? Yes I do, though I would have added a "partially" before the responsible to be more clear.

D’Souza contends that the cultural left is responsible for 9/11 in two ways: by fostering a decadent and depraved American culture that angers and repulses other societies—especially traditional and religious ones— and by promoting, at home and abroad, an anti-American attitude that blames America for all the problems of the world.

So if we stop all the orgy's and hedonism they will like us more?

Can we still be a free society or is that off the table going forward too?

He didn't say this was 1 cause either, he said primary reason. That is an awfully big difference...
