It seems to me the two biggest wars in the last century were WWI and WWII and it also seems to me that Canada was fighting well before anybody (Other than those brave Americans that fought in Canadian units) from the US was involved in either war. I have never understood the whole national anthem before sporting events. What in the world does a hockey game have to do with nationalism? And don't feed me the whole "you should be thankful to live in a country that has sport and that's why" as I can point to hundreds of countries that have sport. Sport has been around longer than government. Why do humans feel the need to be part of a group and be proud to have been born on one piece of land over another? Countries are nothing more than sets of laws. You can have culture, traditions, etc without countries.

I can see your points but having traveled to many places I think that when you have freedom I think that, like having healthy kids and family, the national anthem gives you an opportunity to reflect and be thankful for said freedom. To provide some actual facts in this thread, the Buffalo fans were booing the national anthem because it is tradition when the Leafs show up. It is only natural they do the same thing to the Sens in the playoffs. Plus can you really blame these guys when they are 4 arena beers in already and don't give a shit about patriotism. I wouldn't bother getting worked up in the slightest about this. If the American fans were assaulting the Canadian fans then I might care but otherwise ...
