Why should Marble's # be retired? Because he was the leader in points scored in Iowa history? Many players have a schools point record and their jersey isn't retired. I am not trying for a pissing match but Roy's # in my book doesn't belong retired. Look forward to your reasoning.

It's very simple he was a terrific player and was Iowa's leading scorer in history it should have been retired, 'nuff said.

Should they retire the high scorer before Marble too? And how about the high scorer before him? And then before that guy too?

Live your life, find a reason to be happy, get rid of this type of thinking. Always worried about what somebody else gets, always becoming a victim, always thinking it's about racism or some other wrongdoing

JFC, grow up already, and care less about stuff that should be totally irrelevant to you

Nice try but his record stood for a long time. It stood the test of time long enough and should have been retired and was a model citizen.

His awards are all justified but what team goals did he accomplish? I never mocked him or tore him down....

What did Marble do?

As a senior he wasn't even the best player on the team. Remember B.J. Armstrong? Even Ed Horton who was drafted from the team the same year later than Marble played in more NBA games and he had under 50.

No one has made a case for Marble yet. Oh but he held a record for 32 years. In this age of college basketball not really all that remarkable because the kids go to the NBA. Garza decided to play with his team one more year, I don't blame him with all that covid did to disrupt the NBA season and it's draft.

Give the man credit, he DESERVED his number retired, Marble didn't and still doesn't.

I simply don't think about these matters. I don't care about Golden Globes, Emmys, all-star MVP's. Man of the Year, Nobel Peace prizes, Hollywood, the media or race

I do care about people, just don't care if they're offended by something I think is trivial.

It's an honor and privilege to have one's jersey retired or hung in the drafters and not trivial. I genuinely believed Marble's jersey already was until I read this thread. He deserved it and their family's complaint is valid. He behaved admirably while there if he had been a punk or troublemaker I can see them opting not to retire the jersey #. At the very least, as he was still the leading scorer and he passed away at a young age due to cancer they had another opportunity to retire posthumously.
