And what led to Nazi Germany?

Citizens blindly believing that however extreme the measures their leaders took, those in power should never be questioned.
It was all for 'the common good'.

Those lefties sure are quick with the Nazi accusations aren't they?

It is a pity they don't realize that the "peace at any cost" philosophy that they believe so strongly in is what led to Nazi Germany starting WW2.

Your take on the Weimar republic is well noted, but using it as a justification for wars that have absolutely nothing to do with peace is very Straussian of you. You also fail to acknowledge that Nazi Germany, regardless of the failure of the Weimar democracy, would never have embraced fascism were it not for the rise in unemployment, bankruptcy and the theat faced by the middle and working classes by the cheap labour in neighbouring countries.

I do not believe that the left specifically endorses 'peace at any cost.' What the left definitely does NOT do is pretend that bombing a country is part of the quest for peace. A NeoCon 'quest for peace' involves perpetual war, or at least the capability of perpetual war. "It matters not that they love us so long as they fear us." These guys have no purpose in a state of tranquility. THAT is what makes them similar to Nazi Germany.

Love that last statement of yours but you don't really know until you try it. It does work!
