I just want to know why there is a prejudice against East Indiansas opposed to general Indians ?

My Indian girl ( Segufta) was a great tenant, attractive as well, even HOT !

I'd rent to Indians again, but sold the rental unit.She always paid the rent early, clean as clean could be, never bothered me for anything.... great tenant.

Doug, a sad truth with all prejudices is that they exist. As I understand things its the southern indians witch are typically darker, are looked down apon more so,,, (the irony is that all of india is pretty dark lol) but typically the further southl the darker, therfore the LESS THOUGHT OF,,,, now I would compare that to this,,,

the Spaniards consider themselves to be the ELITE of spanish, then somewhere int he middle fall the other 30 spanish speaking countries, and at the VERYYYY bottom, are the mexicans,,,,

why is it that specific perceived predjudiced? I dotn know, its just one of the sad ironys of life,,,,

Perhaps the same as lighter skin blacks in america are considered more desireable than VERY dark skinned blacks?

BTJ : You are correct, in that even a 2nd generation Indian couple ( born in the USA) would generally disapprove of their daughter marrying a white guy, or even worse a black guy or Hispanic guy... I'll give ya that one.


I'm no expert on the Indian culture... dots have something to do with the caste system.

There were literally 20 people that came with Segufta to check out the apartment before she signed the lease ! Her father is an attorney, probably born in India.

Her father, mother, siblings, aunts,uncles,cousins,etc. all came, many spoke in their native toungue to each other. It was weird. They certainly were there to protect their little girl , about 24 and a pfizer chemist.

She lived there about 2 + years, married another Indian, bought a house.

Problem free tenant, only thing I ever did was change out a faucet, while she was there.

Security deposit returned with interest.

I don't care if this thread takes a turn. I know nothing of the regions of India.

If I were BTJ ( landlord) I'd certainly rent to Indians. I don't care about discrimination laws. I only rented to Pfizer chemists, only advertised there ( connections). My renters could have easily bought the place, or 3X the price of the place.


I do know some Indians are light ( passable as white). some are very dark, same with Mexicans.

I don't care. I don't judge ya by your color/race, but I'm very aware that many do.

I had no shot with Segufta ( if single), because I'm white, racists aren't only white, they come in all colors !

Jim: I'd guess that Indian-Americans do drugs at a rate lower than that of whites or blacks.I'd also say they are much more likely than whites to have a college degree.
