Remember this is their opinion won't be surprised to see another ranking with ESPN asking the public to vote and then combine both for the best overall Ranking.
IMO I can't see how #5/#6/#7/#9/#10 are ranked above #11 but they are :think2:
NO, this is not an opinion poll of any kind. It's a poll based strictly on teams appearances in post season bowls and their W/L results.
The stats are compiled over a 72 year period that started from when the national polls first began up to now. So this is about all-time rankings. It counts bowl records with more credit given for major bowls and victories than for minor bowls and losses and it's based strictly on a point system. Every team had to earn its rank.
Conan: You are absolutely correct. Anyone who can't see how they came up with their rankings should look into it. Opinion had nothing to do with it. ESPN spells out the criteria they used right up front. There aren't many of us on this forum that can remember back as far as 72 years ago but the traditions for many of those teams go back that far. Many of the younger guys on here never had the opportunity to see some of the teams those schools produced. Like I said before, it is just another bone to chew on in the off season. When does spring practice begin?
