U wonder what these on air people are making?
Maybe they can get paid a little less as they made millions playing /coaching their sport?

I grew up on espn. Was fine watching sports center highlites all morning, random crap during the day, and then the 6pm sportscenter

never needed to watch show and show to hear everyone’s opinions (took me a while to warm up to PTI)

cable is expensive as espn charges a bunch to the cable companies to broadcast espn. I wonder how much cord cutting hurt them (if any)?

they have too many shows and only a few are worth watching.

they pay BIG money to broadcast games. That is their profit center right there. If the games aren’t getting ratings, then their profit center goes down.

when people watching games online or streaming platform, that will affect ratings.

the good talent will get picked up. Just wonder where will they go?

Affirmative action in action at ESPN.

I'm not so worried about Perkins as Booger has been assigned to provide English lessons. Take a smart, insightful, prepared guy like Ryan Clark who worked and set a career path to land exactly where he is. That however was based on what ESPN used to be. Now he has to be part of the clown show in order to get air time.

The Fat Sagu, Perkins (LeBron's bitch), Gumbo-mouth Booger and the list goes on of molding former black athletes into a line-up of trained seals for Greeny to call on and then toss them a sardine. Does Damien Woodey get much airtime...no because he has self-respect. Do you see any of the white former players as part of this act...no except for the just paid $85m brain damaged ex-punter. What is being rewarded and reinforced there and why can no one see that it is not working for viewers?

Have a feeling Doris Burke will replace Van Gundy and it will be awful. She is going to be elevated because she cost less dollars than JVG. I don't see why ESPN/ABC would break up a successful three man team that calls the NBA Finals. Doris isn't bad as an analyst with a low key play by play man that sets her up to make points about the game. Putting her in with Mike Breen and Mark Jackson would be a terrible fit. JVG was good because he said so many off the wall and stream of consciousness statements. You never knew what crazy thing he would say next and he played off Breen perfectly. Doris Burke will make some long winded comment about a player or play. It's not entertaining to the casual fan who tunes into the ECF or WCF and the NBA Finals.

Doc Rivers was good for the short time he was an analyst on TNT. He's very personable. The question is will he take what ESPN offers because it will be a whole lot less than JVG was paid. Rivers is also still collecting part of his guaranteed contract from 76ers. I imagine there is a clause that should he take a job on TV whatever he is paid will be offset against the contract. Right now he can play golf everyday while collecting millions from Philadelphia.

They could also move up JJ Redick who got very good reviews in the games he called. But like I said I think it's going be Burke.

Get rid of all the talk shows.

Get Up and Around the Horn are so lame. Only PTI is worth watching and keeping. All the others need to go.

It's not entertaining and while it kill the gambling show, those clowns are horrible and have no clue at all.

World is falling apart. Give anything to go back into the 80's-90's

Just put dikes on the air instead

I wonder how much weekly these people collect from unemployment?

This is unbelievable: "Kellerman makes in the neighborhood of $5 million a year, while Keyshawn Johnson, is in the second year of a five-year deal for around $18 million."

Imagine thinking Max Kellerman is worth $5 million per year.

Disney stock downgraded at KeyBanc on 'meaningful uncertainty'

KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst Brandon Nispel downgraded Disney stock (DIS) to Sector Weight from Overweight on Thursday, citing "meaningful uncertainty" as the 2024 financial setup "feels a lot like the 2023 setup."

Nispel called out five areas of concern, which include stalling direct-to-consumer (DTC) subscriber growth, a failure to differentiate DTC churn, sagging Disney content sales, a "materially harder" reality for moving ESPN to streaming, along with fears that domestic park expectations appear too high in the US.

On the streaming side, KeyBanc expects further losses from Disney+ and Hulu as growth tapers off amid escalating competition.

Disney stock saw its biggest decline in six months after the media giant reported Disney+ shed 4 million subscribers in its fiscal second quarter following recent price hikes.

ESPN remains another murky area for the company. Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported Disney is currently laying the groundwork to transform ESPN into a fully over-the-top streaming service — something Disney CEO Bob Iger has said will happen.

"At this point, [ESPN+] is what I call a flanker business or brand to the main ESPN brand," Iger said in March. "Down the road, at some point, I think it's inevitable...[ESPN] will become a direct-to-consumer business."

But Nispel noted recent Keybanc survey data shows a "low willingness to pay." "Who's going to pay $30+/month for ESPN? Not many," the analyst wrote. "Who's going to pay $30+/month for ESPN? Not many," the analyst wrote. "From our survey work, we found consumer interest in sports is relatively high in linear, though willingness to pay in streaming is low: we found >25% of subscribers would not be willing to pay for a pure sports streaming service, 46% of subscribers would be willing to pay <$10/month, and 26% would pay >$20/month."

Remember when everyone assured us that sports ratings were down because of "cord cutting"?

Just don’t understand how you let go of Van Gundy but keep Jackson lol
A lot of it has to do with how many years is on whoever’s contracts .
They are not necessarily making all these decisions based on who they think it better or who they would rather keep .

Too many stations isn’t the problem. Espn wanted to make their main channel which most people have, as their CNN 24/7 clown drama politics channel. Spoon feed hour upon hour bullshit with their parrots! Lil chirping parrot clowns

Espn sports center reruns were somewhat therapeutic and cool. It actually kinda helped/forced you to be in the know about many different sports etc.

When was the last time any of these stupid shows covered golf or hockey or soccer or even really Mlb? I don’t really care about mls or soccer but I’d be more inclined to poke my head in if o got a few details here n there. But the shows just talk about Lebrun James and Tom Brady 24/7

All they do is talk about nba and nfl. Which for good reason should get most talking points. But it’s the same clown parrots talking about same shit every day for years.

And why is everything a black focal point in sports? It’s almost like the country thinks the 12% black population supports 80% of sports. Black representation must be everywhere. Yeah nba and nfl predominantly black players but what about the audience and fans? Why don’t we see Latinos on the set talking sports? What about their 20% of population here?

Espn is woke so where is the Pablo Sanchez on set talking sports with Stephen A Smiffffff? Where is the Trans co host Lia Thomas on Max and Keyshawn? Thought we were all about inclusion and growing sports? Oh you’ll preach and cover pride month heroes in sports and hold celebrations nights with cute little rainbow jerseys but espn won’t put a tranny in the chair on set?

Espn needs to put their political shows and all the specials on espn news! Espn can show cricket, tennis, Korea based, soccer, Aussie football, rugby, a host of off brand sports during the day on espn or espn 2. Then run the numbers and see what the people choose to watch. Then come 7 pm est give us the cbb nba nhl nfl mlb stuff.

Because espn does everything possible to put a black face on the TV! But take your Asians and Latinos and you see nothing. Thought the woke Disney was all about diversity and culture.

Somebody show me why a damn black person must be in the chair for every sport. You would think that 12% was 80% of the population. Call it racist all ya want but I call it cherry picking somebody because they are black. A fucking privilege. No issues with a black person covering golf or nhl or mls or mlb. But how can you intentionally put black people in the chair for every sport just because they are black thinking it will extend your audience. Yet not a singe tranny or fag bag or Latino or Muslim or Asian is ever represented in the same light.

Black folks are now the most protective species on the planet! We must save them.
