I agree. As you can see it is my POD too.

I'm gonna stick with my season long Charlton fade and add

Watford + .5 - 124 2 units.

GL today lads.

Nice fade on Charlton again. Even though I was up this early (6:30 am on a Saturday morning) I forgot that Charlton was playing and didn't play it.

:nopityA:

Oh well, next time.

Because they have been a top 6-8 team consistently for years.

This is one of my favorite angles, that being when the public has a certain lean toward a team (whether good or bad) and the team changes. The public still remembers how the team used to be and the line doesn't catch up with the change in the team.

Precisely. The Eagles come to mind this year.

Bolton made it to the final a few years back and although they made it to the UEFA cup this year by finishing seventh, they know that the Carling Cup is their best chance of European football next year. Charlton have some injuries and points in the Premiership in a priority for them right now. So the fade continues..................

Bolton pk - .5 + 109 2 units
Spurs - 1 - 119
Man Utd - 1 - 1.5 - 112
Reading + 1 + 116 2 units

Nolan and Faye are out for Bolton - and I'm pretty sure points in the Premiership are a priority for them too... Seeing that the line has moved from Charlton pk at around evens to Charlton +0.25 -113 I'm leaning towards The Addicks.

But in case I don't pull the trigger - good luck. :toast:

Darren Bent, Andy Reid, Amdy Faye and Dennis Rommedahl are all doubtful for Charlton and i'll bet if they are not 100% they will not be risked in this competition.

As far as needing points, Bolton are sitting pretty in 3rd place (over achieving if anything) and Charlton, typically a top 6-8 team are rooted on the bottom of the Premiership with one win in nine games.

I'm seeing Chelsea at -143 and Liverpool at around -200. Aren't those pretty good prices for the Cup? These teams should be motivated to win and have the talent to do so.

Liverpool B team Vs a motivated Reading team (should be a strong side) does not represent any value at - 200. I'm not saying they are not going to lose but - 200 is heavy chalk for what should be no better than a reserve team out there.

No Gerrard, Alonso, Aurelio, Bellamy or Gonzales. Answer me this, are you familar with the following players...

Danny Guthrie, Lee Peltier, Jamie Smith and David Martin ? Because they are all in the squad for tonights game.

Chelsea on the other hand, will roll.

Perhaps Reading is a good bet here then at +1.25 -107.

I think I'll put a few pence on Chelsea as well.

Yes, Charlton need the points more but they're as much a priority to Bolton in 3rd place imo.

Agreed, points in the EPL are a priority for all teams but Charlton really need points desperatly which is why I dont think the big name players carrying injuries will be risked.

Bolton are playin ManU on Saturday.
Going by form this is a win for Bolton, however they are torn over how to play today without over exerting for the weekend.
This cup is the most direct route to europe if im not wrong but if they get to the final they are likely to face a top team. And Bolton have to keep their form for the whole season to qualify for europe. So its a matter of balance.
