waz, in trading commodities, each commodity has an overnight margin required to hold the position...... if your account drops below this, you go on margin call.....
Lets look at the emini sp 500..................... there is an initial margin required in your account to put a trade on........... this may vary, i can day trade the emini at my place with only enough money in there to cover my stoploss............... however when you stay overnight, its pretty much cut and dried everywhere....... the board will set the margin because each account is settled daily................ the Overnight margin for one emini sp contract is $3800.......... this means for every contract that your trading, you have to have a minimum of $3800 in your account to stay overnight..... if you fall below this, your firm may call for a bankwire to hold the position open, if you fail to comply, they can settle your position....
however to beat the emini sp 500 margin.......... all you have to do is get out of your position at (3:14 pm cst) one minute before market closes and then simply put it back on at (3:31 pm cst) one minute after market re-opens...... you see at (3:31 cst) you are on the next days trading and that wont go on the books, so you will then have almost 24hrs to hold the position, without having the margin money, simple as that....... this will however cost you another $25rt comm charge......... but its worth it, if you like your position and dont want to be blasted out of a trade......
wednesday jan 9:
low of 1393, high of 1406.50..... currently around (1400), so at the moment im glad that i exited my trade late yesterday........
im going to try and monitor for another selling opportunity....... in looking at the charts, if we get anywhere around (1415) ill become a seller again..
at the moment, i dont want to constantly be in the market....... id rather sit on the sidelines and bide my time........ trying to wait for another layup, like yesterday...........
looks like a little early morning strength..... we will see what the day has to offer............... there will be a little resistance near 1410, then stronger at 1420............ read a daily chart for this info.......
