Mexico does not have capital punishment.

El Chapo was only extradited to the U.S.A. after prosecutors agreed to not seek the death penalty.

Crazy. I guess common sense isnt applicable

Probably a byproduct of capital punishment not being supported by enough Americans to inspire laws to be written with that as a routine remedy

Thanks for this clarification. The majority of civilized nations in the 21st century concur

I would assume the bulk of his assets would be seized by the Mexican gov't.

You might be surprised how relatively *small* his physical and true $$ assets are.

I followed the trial since about halfway through. The literal majority of his ongoing revenue was spent paying for trustworthy security forces. Monthly revenue was cycled immediately into a combination of security forces and purchasing fresh inventory. A third major cost center was paying off government police and military. Any significant physical and $$ assets would be seized by Mexico. I am reasonably confident no US agency has a valid legal claim on anything not seized within the physical USA

Yeah, I know....The 14B is just the size of his enterprise anyway (and who knows how you value a drug cartel...Not like VC's have a multiple for that)

I'm sure his assets aren't any type of windfall to the government.

not knowing much of the situation except how prominent he was in running a drug cartel but has he flipped and ratted on anyone or anything? i just assume the guy has to be very well connected across the entire mexican govt and military i would assume. he has to have a wealth of information and dirt on people, maybe even other cartels. has he cooperated and given info on anyone? i assume there has to be value in offering him something small in return for information....maybe not?

it will take less than a week for him to gain full control of that facility. normally it would take less than a day in a regular pen but this place is a tad more stringent. funds are being transferred to prison officials bank accounts as we speak. he cannot escape but will get the best room they have with all the amenities.

Ridiculous claims you're making there. The very best room they have is a 7x12 cement cell, his amenities will be a sink/toilet and a video screen. They constantly move prisoners around to different cells so they never feel like they are in their 'home' cell. He will never be allowed to mingle with other prisoners and he will eat every meal in his cell. Any mail he receives will be put on a video screen in his cell for him to read. The only people this guy will see or hear for the rest of his life are prison guards that will refuse to engage in any conversation he attempts to have with them. It's all part of the psychological breakdown of their prisoners.
