I get what you're saying and he seems to be a solid capper.

But if he is truly a solid capper why a headline like this? Obviously, even if this won, this game was no lock and there was absolutely no reason to bet anymore than your standard units.

This was obviously a hero ploy that failed so he deserves the ridicule(imo)

No capper worth anything is going to tell you to go larger than normal or call it a christmas gift. Any capper should be well aware all wagers come with a risk.
