My opinion...

A lot of the flaming is tolerated, encouraged, and even instigated by industry insiders and ghosts who are advancing an agenda to either destroy another book, forum, or poster or to pump up their own favored position. Or for the sake of a few cheap hits so that the forum owners can show their advertisers lots of activity.

Sorry my first post back here had to be on this subject but I'm just calling it as I see it.

PS: what's wrong with having a porn folder? If you don't like it, do what I do... don't click on it.

I know you like correcting people (as we see here trying to correct Doc) but, the correct spelling is Rubik`s Cube...

I'm not sure if I've EVER seen a thread that would appeal to the serious handicapper turn into a pissing match. Max1234 is DEAD on and he atleast speaks for me if not many more. Attention whores and scams being allowed to piss all over these forums is why posters, including bookmakers left.
Sorry but threads like "XXX are thieves" and "XXX is a shit book" will ALWAYS turn nasty.

I agree with the writer's sentiments- trying to get a serious point across often just gets shouted down more often than not. Not very intelligent is my comment to certain posters who are LOUDER in their opinions than their content justifies but hey that's life!

I'd like to chime in and I know many will not like what I have to say, but let's just grab our balls and let's have a moment of honesty.

What really is driving good posters away?

The lack of rational discussions. We all know that. But why is there a lack of inteligent discussions? Let's see:

1. The reputation of this site has been greatly affected. The new owner of the site Marty Jensen has a pending situation of unpaid post-up funds. What's really behind the situation? Only Marty and the players know. The whole situation should have been handled in a different way.

The bonus whores should have been called out. If there were mistakes made by the casino management, they should have been accepted and corrected. Legitimate players should have been sent what they had coming to them. Whores should have gotten the boot.

2. Part of the same disease, the main man of this site tried to pull a stunt on a book (BG). Not good in the eyes of the other sponsors of this site. The apologies came too late. (Ken, you know I respect waht you do, which is precisely why I take the liberty to point this out)

3. The censorship has been blown out of proportion. Street wisdon dictates: "Keep your hommies close, but your beef even closer". A wise man will always be open to dialogue with his "enemies", especially if those "enemies" have been insiders in his operation.

4. Fvcking trolls. Let's take this thread as an example. You have valuable posters with opinions and then you have attention whores like Railbird. Nothing really can be done. If you ban the guy, he'll come back as 10,000 ghosts; if you keep the guy, you have to put up with his non-sense. What's the best thing to do? Pat said it, ignore the fvcknut.

5. The free bashers. Let's take the BHB situation as an example. Scott may not like to keep his cool, if he's been pushed around. If I'm not wrong, I think I read the man was brought up in welfare and he's been on his own since he was 17. It takes a lot of fighting to overcome tough circumstances and the man likes to strike back if attacked. What should the moderators have done? Simple, they should have propitiated a thread where the REAL players with LEGITIMATE complaints had the chance to post their account number and get them taken care of. The bashers? "I'll be more than gladd to accomodate you, sir... may I have your account #?" "Errr... I don't have one yet, but..." "No problem, man... fvck you very much"

One thing is to accept constructive criticsm, one other is to fight with bitches, that don't really want to contribute, they just love to kick a fallen man.

So what to do?

Keep the house clean, starting form the top and create the opportunity for intelligent posters to discuss business openly. After all, we all are here to make money.

Thanks Dicky... I figured it was a good one when they un-pinned the thread.

I hope I didn't come off as a prick. It's just that sometimes I can't help it...

I don't know what was more astounding - Walk's post, or the revelation that he's actually capable of an astounding post

Walk excellent post, thanks for taking the time. As part of the new moderator team, which is a combination of old and new. Bucsfan, and myself, being brand new, Fishhead fairly new, RPM coming back with his experience, and The General bringing the most experience to the team. I think I am talking for all when I say please have some patience, we want to put past mistakes behind us, and work toward making the Rx. a better site in the future, naturally this takes time. OK, many will say I sound like a typical paid mod, promoting the site, thats fine, think what you want. The truth is we (the mods) really want a better Forum, we want to be able to help bettors, and bookmakers alike. In my case, I don't, and I mean this, look at the top of the page immediately, when a sportsbook is criticised. Complaints against sportsbooks will be judged on merit, regardless of book and poster involved. When someone comes in with vague accusations, expect to see editiing or movement to other forums. Complaints that have some substance will naturally be given all the attention possible. Those that are questionable, will be given some benefit of doubt, until the book, or poster,in question can respond. In other words don't bring it unless you have something to bring. If that makes any sense.

The Marty Jensen issue will have to play itself out. Could it have been handled differently, sure. I do believe there is more than one side to the story, I am not taking any side here, only want to say some bonus and credit card fraud MAY have been involved. My one hope is that we can achieve some sort of solution to the matter.

Shrink's issues, are just that Shrink's issues. He is dealing with them.

Censoring posters is not my favorite pastime, but a necessary evil. This is not the New York Times Editorial page. Censoring profanity, racist remarks, and just plain wrong commentary, will continue. In my case, with some cautious reluctance.

Trolls and bashers really have to be dealt with case by case. Some hang themselves immediately, others are more clever and walk the thin line between acceptable posting, and outright flaming or bashing. I hate to ban people personally, much rather move threads to the Rubber Room and let boys be boys. Thats me. When I see direct unsolicited attacks, or flames, on posters trying to express legitimite views, complaints, or opinions, I will take immediate action, as will the rest of the moderators.

Bottom line to all this is what is done, is done, our friend "Stuart" calls us idiots, thats his opinion. The New Year is here, I for one hope to prove him wrong, and will do everything I can to make The Rx. a better place to post (or just lurk if that is your thing). As you can tell, I am not exactly Tolstoy, but like Walk of Life I want to see everyone here, have a better chance to just make some money.

seems like the marty issue is resolving itself. not as fast as some would like but appears to be happening which some never thought would begin

getting rid of pat mcirish is a plus. he is a good guy to fvck around with i'm sure but was not in his element as the head mod

ken is, imho, a different matter. he is no saint nor the devil, like all of us is a flawed person. lot of bitter feelings between ken and some people which could be eased or completely done away with a clearing of the air and some appropriate apologizes. ego and false pride can cause a wide schism in otherwise reasonable people.

I agree with Wil that the current crew is working hard to make this the best forum it can be, or I wouldn't have bothered asking to come back. But we posters must do our part too.

Mud slide, good post. I happen to agree with the fact that there needs to be some degree of decorum here. the mods seem to be doing a better job than before, and I think that the bad people, like a bad case of herpes, seem to be inactive right now.

I just hope that more good people come around because that is what truly makes this site, the good people. I especially would like to see more good people posting good info in the handicapping area as i seem to get more and more info on games that puts serious money in my pocket.
