Doug's review of the cheap ( like $19) hotels in downtown Las Vegas....

Thanks for the hotel updates. I don't make it to Vegas often, so I'd probably do the GN again (if staying downtown). Good to know about the other places though....

I've stayed at Terrible's, about 8 years ago, just after it was renovated. It was very nice....and only $19/night (back then). I'd rather stay in walking distance to other casinos (such as on the strip or downtown). So I'd probably never stay at Terrible's again....but will definitely be downtown again. The pool was a lot of fun at GN. Hard to get a chair sometimes, but still nice. Surprisingly the "talent" wasn't too bad either.

Dante, QL and I visited the Monte Carlo pool (where bella was staying) and that was impressive! I've been to Vegas about 8 times, but that was my first trip during the summer months...

Some good info here.

Glad you liked Binions! I liked it also, had a nice 'down home' feeling to it. Nothing wrong with that place.

One of the waitresses kissed me on the cheek at their cafe. I'm like does it get more friendly and homely than this?!

I went into Plaza ( they dropped the Union). Table games didn't look good. I've never seen a room there.

Most here seem to agree that Binion's is a super deal.

Did get some nice comps in the mail from the local Boyd Gaming joint for playing at Fremont during the Bash.

I thought The Cal(west tower)& The Vegas Club(North tower i think)were very acceptable places.Still prefer to pay a little at The Nugget, then a free room any where else downtown.

El Cortez has new digs called the cabana suites you should checkout. Used to be the old ogden house. Think miami vice in vegas.

Haven't been yet but am told are much nicer than the ghastly rooms in the main building. Outside of GN the best rooms in all downtown!

Your receipt shows $80 for five nights plus $2.08 taxes, but the total is $90.40. What was the the other eight bucks for?

Do you know if any of the Vegas sportsbooks have second half lines in the bottom of the fifth inning for televised baseball games?

I see now the taxes are per night, my bad. I'd love to hear any other recommendations for really cheap hotels (or apartments) in Vegas, I may move there in the next couple years.
