Does the US Military want to take out journalists?

Robert Fisk???

Here's a thought some of you guys should consider. If the US was truly targeting journalists, wouldn't it have made more sense to kill Robert Fisk himself? As a conservative, I can tell you that if I was placed in a room with a wild, man eating lion and Robert Fisk, and I only had one bullet in my gun, I'd shoot Fisk and take my chances with the lion. At least I'd be doing the world a great service before I became lunch for the lion. Trust me, if Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the boys were really targeting journalists, they would have made certain that Fisk was the priority target. And he was right there for them in the battle at Saddam Airport...you know...the Airport where Fisk said the American army was nowhere to be seen and the Iraqis were fully in charge.

One thing about that SanJose, Fisk is a western journalist, I think that would cause even more trouble for the US.

RadioFree,

Western Journalist??? Last time I checked, a Western Journalist WAS killed by the coalition friendly fire you refer to, unless of course you personally exclude Spain from the "West" for some reason.

The bottom line is we did NOT do this on purpose no matter how many conspiracy theorists bitch and moan.

Two things:
How is it that you KNOW that this wasn't done on purpose?
And, why is this suddenly relegated to being a "conspiracy"? (with all apropriate negative connotations attached).

Radio Free,

Just three quick questions...

1. Is Spain a "Western" country?

2. Where is the hard evidence to suggest that it is offical US policy to murder journalists?

3. When there's no hard evidence pointing to a specific conclusion, and people still reach that conclusion because it fits into their particular view of the world, does that not potentially qualify as a "conspiracy theory?"

I don't think that there was a "conspiracy".

1 a : to join in a secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or an act which becomes unlawful as a result of the secret agreement

How will this intent be proven? This is near impossible to prove.

Spain is a western country, but compare the exposure that fisk's death would cause compared to a lesser known journalist.
I regret having used the term "western" journalist instead of "celebrity" journalist.
