Does anyone here support Bush's decision to invade Iraq?

A truly colossal blunder that will echo in history books for generations to come. Right up there with Neville Chamberlin and appeasement or the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan

What's the point of this thread? Isn't the cat way out of the bag by now? It's done. The question is where things will go from here.

US President George W. Bush speaks to reporters at Ft. Hood, Texas after attending Easter Sunday services there with his family. Bush acknowledged the mounting difficulties in Iraq, saying during a trip to a major US army base, that the United States had had a 'tough week.'(AFP/Luke Frazza)

"Tough week" he says.

His views would probably change if it were his slutty, drunk daughters over there and not the kids of hard-working, constantly praying, everyday folks. Screw Bush and anything he has to say.

American, do you feel that Bush should acknowledge this fact or publicly apologise or something along those lines? Just wondering how those who originally supported the war view how its aftermath should be handled.

Are you serious? America does not apologize for what it does, what it wants and what it is. The rest of the world bitches and moans (as they ride the U.S. coattails). What else can they do?

the invasion of Iraq is the owrst move a president has made in decades.

This is not a partisan issue with me.

I am not a democrat, and frankly, am still upset that many dems approved this war, and the patriot act.(which rivals the invasion as the worst presidential move in decades)

No, I don't mean apologise to the rest of the world (although maybe Iraqis would appreciate it) but to publicly address Americans themselves. Do you feel that you are owed that much, especially given your initial support for this war?

I was slightly against the invasion when it occurred. Today, I am against it and mad as hell about being mislead.

We originally went in to "remove WMD". Then, it was to "fight terrorism". We were promised that the Iraqi people would welcome us with open arms. Guess what, all these were wrong!

Who is killing US troops now? Not Hussein supporters. No, they are supporters of Shiite Clerics, a former repressed enemy of Hussein - part of that population that would supposedly help us.

The Iraqi people don't want us there. Why should they? We fabricated a reason to go to war. The "Allied Coalition" shut down the Iraqi newspaper due to its content (it was supposedly promoting violence). If the Iraqi people are better off, it is only due to easing of trade sanctions (the exception being the Shiites).

I still support the U.S. going over there are taking Saddam and his lovely family out. What has happened since is complicated, as these people are bigger losers than anyone could reasonably expect. The Iraqis don't seem to want stability or to live in peace. This is a very low-level base culture we're dealing with. I'm beginning to think that they deserved Saddam.

LMAO. American, the Iraqi culture is one of the oldest and richest in the entire world. Not having the western values and the western way of seeing things doesn't mean they are not civilised and the americans are. Just a friendly advice kid, go to a local library and do some research before you open your mounth and make a fool of yourself once again.

Go spend a year over there, and come back and tell me how civilized they are. Their culture may have once been rich and advanced, but time has passed them by at some point. For all their culture, all they seem to understand is violence, from what I see. They deserved Saddam.

Have you spent a year there yourself to have such a strong opinion? And surely you get that nobody deserves Saddam ... however, if they did, then the 'liberation' rhetoric is just more propaganda then ...

Anyway, if I were an American, I think I would be just as pissed at the war itself as I would be with the admin's failure to acknowledge any responsibility in this fine mess it got you guys in ... I have never seen so much buck passing in my life. For a party that yammers on about personal responsibility as much as it does, you'd think it would realise that its public might expect a little of the same.
