I would short yahoo before Google.

Of course with my track record you should rush to do the opposite of anything I recommend.

I'm not saying this to "be that guy" but I see a nice return on yahoo stock after they got crushed in 06. I don't believe this is long term but there is alot of room for improvement in 07 with everyone beating up the yahoo stock.

But why listen to me...I was screaming that SIRI was going to be at 10 by now when I was buying at 3.

I guess I was a little early on this one.

MTV owner Viacom Inc. sued the popular video-sharing site YouTube and its corporate parent, Google Inc., on Tuesday, seeking more than $1 billion in damages on claims of widespread copyright infringement.

Viacom claims that YouTube has displayed nearly 160,000 unauthorized video clips from its cable networks, which also include Comedy Central, VH1 and Nickelodeon.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, marks a sharp escalation of long-simmering tensions between Viacom and YouTube and represents the biggest confrontation to date between a major media company and the hugely popular video-sharing site, which Google bought in November for $1.76 billion.

YouTube's soaring popularity has been a cause of fascination but also fear among the owners of traditional media outlets, who worry that YouTube's displaying of user-uploaded clips from their programs _ without compensation _ will lure away viewers and ad dollars from cable and broadcast TV.

The whole idea of shorting stocks is timing.

You were early, but goog sure has looked like shit lately.

Why not short it now and see if you can make 40-50 pts this spring on downside?

I still don't understand why Google bought Youtube. I think everyone and their mother knew this was coming, it was just a matter of when. What did they have to gain by acquiring them?

Growth companies sometimes acquire companies regardless if they are profitable to continue appearing as "growth" companies.

BIDU...one of the chinese companies similar to goog is also rolling over today.

Utterly amazing that whenever any of us touts this stock going lower, the price rises.

Equally amazing that whenever someone touts they bought this stock, the price drops.

Anyone with a call for todays price action?

Preferably someone thats willing to make a call on the stock from this point into the future, not posting what a deal you got 6 months ago without prior mention of that deal.

Nice call Viking.

Its been an amazing bull run for both these stocks.

Can I give you a call next Friday? Google reports next Thursday after the bell and if they beat on stronger revenue and guide higher then it will go higher. Last quarter they were light but they lost their biggest customer (EBAY) for about 2 weeks over a tift. The scary thing about Google is that if it can keep it's same growth rate, then in about 5-10 years it will have the biggest market cap in the world! Hell it's already around the 10th biggest company in world which is impressive for a company that just turned 9 years old. Right now it looks like a cheap growth stock so I guess I'm bullish.
