Does anyone else think Donald Sterling is being unfairly persecuted here?

My question is where do we stop with government and organizations being able to take away people's rights and property. Don't get me wrong I am 100% against Sterling and his views, especially in his position of power. But I do not believe anyone's opinion gives the government or an organization the ability to take away his home or business. If I am a racist and part of a homeowners association can they take my house away? I have no idea what the answer is and Sterling deserves a substantial penalty of some sort.....I'd rather hit the guy in his pocketbook and require him to go through a year of therapy, banning him from basketball while maintaining ownership, but the damn guy bought the team, owns it and should not have it taken away from him. I don't believe in Sterling......I do believe in Rights, right or wrong. Sterling is wrong no doubt about it......he'll face his maker. And on that note, some atheist will probably chime in there is no maker and ban prayer at NASCAR Events.

If my boss was paying me 10-12 million a year he could call me anything he wants, if he didn't want me to bring my white girlfriend to work his wish is my command

Ha. Always love these kind of statements. If you did anything in life that was worth being paid this much money--and there are only a few people in every profession that are--you certainly would demand respect from your bosses. If your level of a career is getting you $10 an hour, then sure, you don't care how you are treated for that money. These guys are getting big money because they are the relative few that can play pro basketball at a high level. They should be treated with respect, unless they do something to lose that priviledge.

Just for the sake of argument, let's allow every person in authority (school principals, teachers, business owners, church leaders, government officials, generals, little league coaches, etc.) to express their beliefs that they don't want certain people to be part of their group, that people of color are not quite as acceptable here where they are an authority figure. That authority figure, I think, becomes unacceptable as a leader and cannot be trusted to be fair and impartial. Sterling will make out like a bandit selling the Clippers. He's not part of a homeowner's association, he's the owner of an NBA team- a team and a league that has been in the forefront for race relations for decades. In Germany the Nazi Party is banned. Can you blame them even though it should be fair to allow any political party in a democracy? The NBA needs to make a stand likewise.

He is getting what he deserves. Don't feel too badly for billionaire Sterling just because some day in the future he won't be able to pretend to admire and respect his players while in reality feels contempt for them.

By the way...the "government" isn't doing anything...it's a private organization in the public arena (NBA). they can do what they want to Sterling.

Is every mans nightmare.
If you and others cant see it, then you need to look a little harder to understand just what a bitch like that can do to any man, and vice versa.

Big fucking deal, I've been divorced, like dozens of others who post here. Doesn't change one iota what he said, if YOU can't see that, you're clueless...but, then, I already knew that.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Barack Obama is involved.....he's done more harm to racial strains in the Country to set us back 10 Years. He's taken every moment of crime or issues to make comments on racism on single crimes when there are 990 other incidents he could comment on as well. Its done harm in this Country. And once again, he takes a press conference in Malaysia and comments on race and basketball. He needs to quit going on vacation and filling out NCAA Brackets and at least try to manage the USA, because he's shaping up to be one of the worst in history. And I don't give a damn if he's black......but he does.

Blubber bellied Needle Dick, long time, no hear from-though not long enough. As usual, you have no fucking clue, I couldn't care less what they do with that woman, if consent by both parties is needed by both parties, and she broke the law, throw her ass in jail-but you're too fucking stupid to see that's a minor point here. Lemme guess, you defend that law breaking racist scumbag Bundy, right?:fckmad::Countdownazzkick(&^:trx-smly0:madasshol:tongue2:Loser!@#0Slapping-silly90))

And FYI...if people would quit talking about what went on in the 60's long enough they would realize that the kids born today don't know about it, and would not care about it if both whites and blacks did not raise their kids to be bitter about something than real soon will have 2 generations of people who weren't even a part of it. And the funny thing is...this Country feels it has to moral responsibility to cover weeks worth of black history and slavery in the classroom, thinking that something good will come out of it. You don't ignore the history, but you don't dwell on it either. Let the kids play with one another, spend the night with one another, have there disagreements with one another, and let the history die, and so will racism. They will be kids....not white kids and black kids.

I understand the recording issue. His soon-to-be ex-girlfriend claims he KNEW he was being recorded which would make him beyond dumb.

With advertisers dropping like flies, if the team's value starts to get affected is there any question what Sterling will do?

Bingo. I don't mind him being forced out by the team's value......maybe someone can produce the NBA document that has this issue in their covenant. If so I am wrong on my point.

Obama is involved in Donald Sterling's comments or in his girlfriend's release of the tapes? Which one? I'm sure he's got something to do with it because after all he's black and he's always messing things up that we rednecks find so wholesome about this country. George Bush would have handled this better. After all, we need the right president in office to handle such important national affairs like this one.

Could George Bush even spell Donald Sterling?

This is a joke, right? The right wing of the GOP's hatred of Obama is so blatant they've tried to overturn ACA what 50 times? You would think after about 20 or 30 attempts they would see the handwriting on the wall but nope. And the ACA is closely modeled after RomneyCare but because he's a rich white guy his version was OK. Give me a break.

Oh so now it is Democrat vs Republican? Make up your mind, and we don't need the right President in office to handle it. We simply don't need him commenting on Basketball. We need him commenting on his record of managing this Country and running it into the ground. And now I'm a redneck......and that makes you a racist. Now what? With Obama's love for basketball....you can bet your bottom dollar he spent Country time making phone calls to the NBA on the matter. I've got some money to lose if you don't think so....otherwise he would not have commented on it in Malaysia.....

I did not bring up Party preferences....the other guy did. That is how people twist words, they add Republican/Democrat to it and start bias. The topic was racism, and Obama has created strain in that area badly in his tenure, commenting on things that have nothing to do with him running the USA.

If ACA and RomneyCare are indeed modeled closely, the answer is still the same. It was poorly planned, it is horrendous for doctors, the care, the office visits and the premiums in 90% of the US is poor and the costs are skyrocketing, and both regardless of Party bias.....would not be working and need to be dropped before they do too much damage, or put on hold to re-evaluate all of the complaints...LISTEN TO AMERICA, and get it right. That's not Republican or Democrat, its called Common Sense.

My personal opinion on this matter is I find this dumbfounding. I did not look further into this but isn't Sterling 100% equity owner of the Clippers? The revenue shares are shared between all the team owners so they are going to be forced to vote him out as some sort of charade of social responsibility? How can someone force this 80 year old rich white guy to sell his business when they have no owners equity or share in the business? If they taped every 80 year old white guy owner's conversations none of them would have teams. I did not even address the race issue whatsoever, this is a private matter in private business and will be dealt with privately. Forcing the man out give me a fuckin break, somewhere Putin is laughing. Because the only thing different is he didnt agree with the owner's views and seized everything and threw the guy in jail.
