I still remember the Dodgers/A's World series. I wanted the A's to win sooo bad cause the had Eckersly, MCGuire, and Conseco... I belive they had ricky Henderson too who could steal every base he tried on. But Kirt what ever the fuck his name was score the homer. I was pissed and I live closer to LA than Oakland.

Man B, we definitely grew up watching the same guys!! I always used to buy cards when I could as well. All the same guys that you named....I spent hours with that shit.

Hockey guy huh? Hey, you know how us black folks don't like the cold or ice....but, I am a huge Blues fan. Once you go to a game in person, you are hooked. I love it and never thought I would.

Hockey is starting to get Black players. I am also a big motocross fan and now James "Bubba" Stewart is a great black motocross rider. So the sports are diversiying. What annoys me is when sportcasters mak it a big deal that a black person is playing. What matters is that they are good, not their color IMHO. tiger woods is just good, I see nothing else other than that.

Yeah, ironic how someone knows exactly what I am talking about. I loved 80's Bases. I really only like to see baseball live now... nothing like seeing freshly cut grass and the intensity. But when I was a kid I would watch it all on TV... Oregon didn't have a professional team and it wasn't until I was 10 years old that my pops took me to a live game to see the Mariners play when Ken Griffey was a rookie.

Blues were the shit in 1992-1993... Brett Hull had his 50/50 year (50 gaols in 50 games). I believe they also had Cujo who was a great goalie.

Fuckin' A man... I don't even gamble and I usually talk politics in this forum and we are choppin it up on sports. LOL!

Won't happen. I'm sure there will be a few more, but I still don't think it's that popular.

Yeah, I don't know where he got that one. I know there are obviously a lot more hispanics that play baseball than black Americans. So, it may seem like there are a lot more than there really are.....but I still do not see hockey blowing up like he says.

But all this commentary about blacks is kinda funny. Because you have a dude like David Ortiz that looks as black as I ever seen a black dude but cause 200 years ago he was mixed with Spanish blood he is "hispanic". So what determines if you are a "black" or "African American"? I mean there are two more things:
1. Don't Black-Latinos live in America? South America, Central America, North America? So they would be condiered "African-American" right?
2. Africa is a continent. We use the hyphen in English for nations not continents i.e. "phillipino-American" "Mexican-american". If we allow ourselves to call one an "African-American" than theoretically we have to either say everyone is an African-American that lives in America because we all came from "Africa" or we start calling ourselves, "Pangean-Americans"

Whew! I'm Done.

So stay up my "African-Americans" :thumbsup2:

I know it. That is funny isn't it B.....and can be kind of confusing at times.

I personally don't like being called an African American. It doesn't offend me, but it doesn't make sense to me. Listen, I was born here, my parents were born here etc etc....
Sure I am proud of my roots, but just because your great, great, great grandparents came over from Russia, that does not mean you are called a Russian-American.
Anyway, I'm American, you are American etc. I wish it was just left at that. Fine, call me black, I'll call you white if we have to, but let's not get all fancy with it.

My sentiments exactly. Glad to know there are a few in this world (you, me, and some friends I have) who can just see people as freaking people not some catagoric quota system. :103631605

Henieken ain't German buddy. It is from Netherlands. LOL!

You have a few German choices (Being that my granmother was German immigrant)

1. St. Pauli Girl
2. Paulaner
3. Grolsch

I prefer Paulaner Hefeweizen on tap in Munchen (Munich) while watching my favorite soccer team play (FC Bayern Munchen). But my family isn't from Munchen they are from Hessen about 15KM south of Frankfurt in a town called Darmstadt.
