Only way I know of to get that nasty old earwax out, you can just feel when it needs a swipe.... fuck that nothing bigger than your elbow shit !

actually I wouldn't mind being deaf at all, if I hit the eardrum, no more hearing the wife bitch !

been a Q-Tipper for a good 35 years. That is one of the things I'd hate most about prison...

What ! ... No Q-Tips, toothpicks or dental floss ?

I guess the real question is how often do you use Q-Tips?
Do you clean Everyday?
Every Couple Days
Once a Week

I go through about 30 Q-tips a day that I use for my ears dipped in hydrogen peroxide but I have some odd problem with heart burn.

I should have had my tonsils out when I was a kid.

My ears must stay completely clean. Anytime you eat or drink it creates more ear wax.

Isn't this what they're for? :think2:

I'm sure they aren't marketed to stick in your ear, lots of liability issues there, but that's what they get used for.

This came up about 30 years ago in HS health class. The teacher was also soccer coach, and a numismatist, I knew him from the coin shop, long before that, even though I was like 14. I was on a first name basis with him... as well as many of my HS teachers. Joe was the soccer coach, I used to drink at bars with my math teacher (Jeff).

Joe, got sucked into teaching "Health".... he basically said that he stuck Q-Fucking -Tips in his ears, and didn't have a better suggestion than "be careful about it".

I believe that is what most are really used for today.

Q-TIPS
The Q-tip was invented in the 1920's Leo Gerstenzang (a Polish-born American). His wife had used a toothpick with cotton stuck on the end to clean their baby's ears, and Leo invented Q-tips to replace her jury-rigged invention. Gerstenzang's original Q-tips consisted of a wooden stick swathed in cotton at both ends; much later, the wood was replaced by white cardboard. Gerstenzang started the Infant Novelty Company to sell Q-tips (which he then called Baby Gays); in 1926, he changed the name of his product to Q-Tips® Baby Gays. The Q stood for "quality". Eventually, the name changed to Q-tips. Doctors today advise that you should not use Q-tips to clean inside your ears. Q-tips, however, have many other uses, including cleaning small areas (like jewelry or the space between computer keys), applying glue, spreading paint, etc.

It seems that's what they were originally intended to be used for. What do doctor's want people to use?

I believe Q-tips are for your ear but you aren't supposed to go too deep. In the ear but not in the hole. The hold is supposed to be cleaned with only a tissue and your finger.

FWIW, I use a Q-tip everyday and always compete with myself to go deeper and deeper.

I would be afraid I would poke my ear drum out. How far in is your ear drum. I've never put anything in my ear. After the shower I use kleenex to dry the outside of my ear but never the inside.

We have an odd product here. It is used primarily in a way, that you aren't supposed to use it, at least officially.

I rarely use a Q-tip other than to stick the Fucking thing in my ear to remove some gross earwax. J&J ( or whoever makes them), is in a funny spot.

Any other product like it, that is mis-used primarily ? Probably something drug-related qualifies

Every morning after the shower, dip it in sea breeze and clean my ears out.

One time my wife bought some off brand and the end came off and got stuck in my ear. I couldnt get it out, had to go to an immediate care place to have it dug out. Doctors first question, was it a Q tip, i said no, some off brand. He said he has had to do that on multiple occasions and it was never the Q tip brand.

I never use anything other than Qtips now
