Spive- The other 76 bats were in his locker, so kind of hard to pick one of them by accident. You probability argument would only work if all 77 bats were in a big pile near the dugout.
Actually, the fact that none of the other 76 bats was corked, works in his favor. If any of them were corked, then we would have evidence of a plan to swap in corked bats.

VG789- I'm weird? But a guy with 76 baseball bats in his locker is normal?

I give him the benefit of the doubt now that the 76 bats were checked...but anyhow the harm was done..

Of course the other bats tested okay - MLB couldn't afford for them not to test okay.

I'm ususally NOT a conspiracy theorist, but I have to say that I would have been SHOCKED if the other bats turned up with anything in them.

MLB already has a MAJOR issue to deal with, if any of the other bats had turned up as being corked, there wouldn't be much they could say.

And of course, testing for steriods is out of the question.

Baseball is looking about as legimate as wrestling these days.

But at least Pete Rose is still on the outs (sarcasm in case that doesn't come across) - too bad he wasn't simply a wife-beater or drug-abuser, those are okay for the integrity of the game apparently.

The ONLY bat that should have been in a locker wasn't? hmmm

Yeah, Sosa only keep's his locker filled with "legal" sticks...while, the "illegal" ONE is readily available for action from the dugout rack.

Got it...thanks.

But doesn't that fall under the same logic of having an illegal bat in the first place? Meaning, is there really a "legitimate" reason for a +500 home-run hitter to be sporting such a stick? Sosa needing extra power/distance to compensate for the loss juice?

Sosa is now an EXPOSDED joke a true embarrassment to himself and MLB.

Sammy Sosa's full of shit. These ball players know if someone has come within half a mile of their equipment. They could tell if someone even touched their bat with a feather duster. The smart thing he did though was to make sure he only had 1 corked bat at the ballpark.

Why would the fact that his other 76 bats weren't corked work in his favor? How many corked bats would you need for a game? Seems to me it's one and done. It's not like you can run back to the dugout and grab your "backup" corked bat after your first one shatters in front of everyone. Have a nice vacation Sammy.
