I think the idea behind it is OK, just need to be able to decide if it should be enforced in that case or not.

no its a stupid idea. 25 year mandatory sentence for a drug crime compared to a 12-13 year average sentence for a murder is beyond me. id be better off murdering someone then get caught with drugs 3 times. if you got rid of drug crimes the prison rate would be dramatically smaller.

not sure if it is in any other State, but what bullshit and a waste of tax paying money.

I was watching cops and heard this mentioned, what a joke. Could be someone with a drug problem and just needs help. Grant it, they have to want it to get it, but what good is it locking some drug offender up at our expense.

Only for violent crimes.

no not just for violent crimes. a guy in cali had 2 prior drug offenses, any crime after that will put you away for 25. the same guy broke into a store and ended up getting 25 .
