we should always do something to help people and help our country, what a noble thought

that's how we should live our lives every day, but we don't

we live in the me generation

government is not a solution for anything, some think they're the solution for everything

Are any of you guys even paying attention to the daily Presidential briefings on this subject?

A whole team of many competent people are working their asses off day and night to adapt private factories all around the country and world to produce ppe and ventilators. Like RT said, those ventilators are somewhere around 40 - 50 grans apiece. There is a good reason they are not stockpiled by the thousands. As RT said even if such a foolish waste of money were appropriated, they would likely be obsolete before they were ever needed. Governors and private hospitals could have their own stockpiles. No one did. The fact that it is a worldwide pandemic has put further stress on the supply. Throw in the fact that China undoubtedly made a lot of this stuff and you have a major lack of supply in black swan times (correct PF).

Hell, Cuomo was offered this stuff in 2015 and he declined it.

If you are paying attention you would see that the team assembled is doing everything possible to ramp up supply. As PF said, they just threw 2.2 trill at this. Money is clearly not the problem. Supply is. And before you blame this President, as he says "the shelves were bare when he took over".

Pay attention to the daily briefings. You'll learn a lot and you will be hard pressed to criticize. These people are smart. Their private sector partners are smart. And they are all working their ballinis off to solve this problem.

You should listen to mayors or governors or healthcare workers who are saying things like we have an order for a million masks, checks cut and then they get sent to a different bidder or we need 50,000 masks a week at our hospital and we currently have 5,000 and are reusing them or making masks which arent as effective as the real ones. What would you say to them? That cant be true because Trump said in his news conference masks were sent and everything is going like clockwork.....oh wait and he starts that statement with talking about something that happened 60 days ago. Trump doesnt have a history of telling the truth. Dont drink the kool aid.

The feds need to coordinate purchase all the most important medical supplies. Not have cities and states and other countries competing to get the supplies.

Minnesota has a billion dollar surplus. 3M has its headquarters in Minnesota and makes the mask. I dont want Minnesota to get them because we have money and connections and someplace like New Orleans that needs them bad right now doesnt get them.

Can anyone give any credible data on how many new manufacturers of mask, shields or ventilators have been produced and delivered to a state or the federal government? Trump never answer that question. He says a million masks were delivered. That may sound good.....but if the demand was for 50 million....sounds like you are doing a terrible job.

Is there any credible data of any new industry that is now making and delivering 1 ventilator that wasn't making them 60 days ago? Trump talks about it. Give data and information about GM and others making them. Dont say we are talking to them. That isnt worth shit. If it is going to be 60 days say 60 days. If you dont know say that you do know. I have said this more than once it cost nothing to tell the truth and the American people deserve that.

Dyson designed a new one in 10 days and is now working to produce them for the UK. Bet it will still be weeks before the first one is delivered. But if we would have done something 30 or 60 days ago....we would be in a much better place than we are today.

Didnt say they werent doing anything. Just that their budget is ridiculous. Now is a time to use them for more things than say sitting in a recruiting office. A co-workers brother got out a month ago and that was his job. Was bored to death and did absolutely nothing the last 2 months. Just one example.

I personally watched huge amounts of waste by military. Other departments have it too....but if you have the biggest potion of the budget you also have the biggest amount of waste.

The point of the original post is to say we wouldnt send our soldiers to war unarmed...why are we not doing the same for our healthcare workers.

yep, absolutely true. He decided to use $750M to fund a solar panel factory in Buffalo instead of $600M to close the deal on new ventilators.

Ironically that factory, currently shut down as "non-essential business" will now be used for Tesla and Medtronic to make, ahemm, ventilators

government always gets it wrong....

not going to disagree with you about military fraud.. I'm sure its just as bad in that dept. as anywhere else.. Before we beat the Chinese virus , maybe the military will be used more in some capacity.... but if Trump tells us that's happening , lets just go ahead and dismiss that as a lie too. For all of your posts I've seen so far with this crisis , all of your criticism has been directed at him only.. Could be wrong about that , but has any criticism been directed anywhere else …

According to Donald Trumps own words: You go to a major hospital and they might have only 2 ventilators.

I saw a stat something to the effect the average ventilator is used for 4 days the virus patient averages 21 days.......might not be exact but you get the idea.

Thanks for helping me make my point. In the past we didnt need them so spending the money elsewhere makes more sense. Now we need the ventilators. So get them made. I guess Trump said today 100,000 ventilators will be made in the next 100 days. Hope he told the truth about that but I wont hold my breadth. New York thinks they need 30--40,000 If that is the case we are probably going to need more than 100,000 in the USA. Why not get more industries to make them and make it 300,000 in 100 days? No more excuses why they arent being made and delivered.

I would rather have 100,000 extra ventilators than be short 100,000.

I am consistent...I thought Trump was a blow hard idiot 40 years ago. Nothing has changed.

In other crisis in my lifetime I think the leaders in charge for the most parts have stepped up to the plate. I think both of the Bushes did a great job. I felt like at the time they came on TV and they looked you in the eye and they were telling the truth. I was not a fan of Ronald Regean's economic plan which later has been shown to be flawed but overalll looking back at where we were as a country and what the world was like at that time. He was an effective leader and I felt like he was telling the truth.

Trump's inability to tell the truth or god forbid take responsibility for a mistake are part of his major character flaws. He thinks he is the smartest person in the room all of the time.....knows more about everything you name....more about medicine than doctors.....military than generals...the list goes on.

If you understand how the president and his cabinet work together before he holds the press conference, you won't blame him like this.
