Bizarre question . Why wouldn't you ? Think you're superior because you grew up in a 'city '? Really ?

do you have more respect for a doctor than a janitor ? The janitor may be a kind soul , the doc a pompous prick . My dad was a janitor . His work ethic gave me opportunity . Am I 'better than him ' cause of education ? Of course not

Why is it a bizarre question? As you can see in this thread, the answer to the question is "no" they don't.

When I moved to the south from the northeast in 1992 I noticed a general friendliness in the south that just wasn't there in the different places I had lived
in the northeast. People actually smiled and said hello to strangers. It was quite refreshing, and I make it a point to do it myself now.

i think neither side really respects each other but being stereotyped as materialistic or snobby is nowhere near as bad as being viewed as dumb, simpleton people.

Over the last 40 years or so, there has been a slow burn in concentrating wealth and significance among big urban enclaves. For a variety of reasons, some of it technology, policy, network effects of big cities, etc.

I'm not really sure about the question asked, because it is more of a cultural/societal question. But when you have a big economic shift like this, some change in perception by people about urban/rural divides are sure to follow. Even divides between mega-cities and second tier cities.

This is a pretty good article on it, long read, mostly deals with the unintended consequences of antitrust and deregulation policy over time.

An elderly man in Texas had owned a large farm for several years. He had a beautiful large pond at the back of the property next to the road, and he’d fixed it up real nice with picnic tables, horseshoe pits, and he’d planted some nice flowers and fruit trees next to the pond. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond to look it over, as he hadn’t been down there for a while. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond, he heard splashing and female voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw that 5 young women had parked their car at the side of the road, climbed the fence and were skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went hurriedly splashing to the deep end.
One of the women shouted to him, “We’re naked and we’re not coming out until you leave!” The old man frowned and yelled back, “I didn’t come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond.” Holding the bucket up he said, “I’m just here to feed the alligator.”
Moral of the story: Old men can still think fast
the good thing about country gals, they swim naked at the swimming hole
