BL --

Haven't always agreed with everything you post - but I am with you here. I have been on TEN all year, and no reason to back off here.

Tennesse will have to put pressure on Brady - with that strong run defense - they may blitz more often and give in to the run a little bit - knocking Brady on his arse a couple of times and cause a couple of turnovers. Should be a great game to watch.

Aloha Lou, I had another question if you dont mind. When you say that a team has peeked to early, and that they should peek in January and not in Dec. How long do these peek sessions last for these teams , that either peek in Dec or Jan. For instance do teams follow a certain type of cycle like 2 up cycles to 2 down cycles, with each cycle representing a week. Or maybe something like 1 up 2 down and so forth. What amount or how do these peek cycles occur and appear in regards to the importance of a team and when they peek. Aloha again for your time. CC.

Writeup

Titans +6 @ Patriots (2 units)
Titans ML +240 (2 units)

Special teams should play a prominent role Saturday night as severe cold weather is in the forecast. Titans have the edge in this department.

Tennessee punter Craig Hentrich followed up a great regular season with a solid outing last week, averaging 44.7 yards per punt against the Ravens. He is no stranger to kicking in cold weather either as he was Green Bay's punter from 1994-1997.

PK Gary Anderson has been solid as well, hitting 22 of 26 from 30 yards on out and kicked a game winning 46 yard FG with :29 left to defeat the Ravens 20-17.

New England P Ken Walter finished second to last in the AFC in punting average and was actually replaced for a few weeks before being brought back. Usually reliable kicker Adam Vinatieri has had problems this year as well, going 9 of 17 from 30 yards on out.

I believe history plays a huge part in the playoffs and anyone that has followed me the past few years knows I use playoff systems to handicap football. This week there are a total of four playoff systems going against the Patriots in this situation. Any time I have a team in the Divisional Round with three or more "play against" systems going against them I fade them. Tennessee +6 and on the ML.

Big Lou,

If you don't mind, what are the playoff systems going against them?

Lou we know you mean the Patriots in your write-up but you might want to correct it for the record.

Amazing how you can look right at something and not see it. Thanks.

big lou, you seem to have some systems in place that have helped you accurately predict superbowl winners in the past. this year you have stated, with much conviction, that the titans will win the superbowl.

if that is so, why would you play the titans +6? why not put more on the money line since they must win this game before winning the superbowl?

this is not a sarcastic comment...it is a sincere question. thanks.

im with big lou here. i love solid systems and of course defense wins championships. pats are 1st in that dept and 12th in offense. titans are 13th in defense and 5th in offense. this game look a hell of alot closer than 6 points. hell that may be a gift. fischer loves being the dog and im sure hes letting his team know the world gives them no chance.plus this is a revenge game for tenn. i also see this game going over the total. its a bit low for 2 teams averaging over 20 pts a game.~~6killer

McNair's health is a bigger factor than anything else mentioned in this thread.

blue edwards,

Fair question. No matter how strong you feel about a game, never put all your eggs in one basket because there is always that chance you could be wrong.
