I know that satellite TV doesn't work great in Rain, but Direct TV is much better, at least in NY.

Down here in Florida Dish Sucks in the Rain

Time to rethink Cable for Florida, if I'm going to be watching games
I have found that spraying your dish with Rain X window treatment will help. Used to have the same problem when I first got dish and then someone told me about using RainX and it helped. Still have an outage in really bad weather but no where's near as bad as it used to be.

My directv goes out when it sprinkles. Really irritating.

When I had dishnetwork back in Illinois it very rarely went out. Switched to direct when I moved to Alabama for the ticket, and the downtime really sucks.

Mine goes out during heavy rain. Had people over for the derby last year and we got hit by a storm when wise Dan was barrelling down the stretch in the woodford reserve...of course it cut out, missed the finish and a big groan was let out by all my guests

That shit used to drive me crazy when I had Direct TV. Seems like any rain and the thing went out. Direct TV is not a fan of Vlad's as much as i told their customer service off. So annoying. And when I am pissed off, I don't need to hear "sir we apologize for this inconvenience" you know what is inconvenient, me having to call you so you can apologize for the inconvenience.

Nice feature, although they are almost admitting with this that satellite is unreliable since this is up 24.7 365 and the satellite signals to the customers dish are not.
guess i don't look at it like that at all. I can sit in a bar in Baltimore and pull up a live soccer match on Beinsport if the bar doesn't subscribe to the channel...or Univision if they don't have mexican networks. If they can't get a pitt hoops game I can pull it right up. Not too damn bad for a "nice feature"

as far as 24/7/365 i highly doubt there are more than a few hours per year where you can't watch your dish when you want it, so the uptime is well over 99%. and in those very few hours when it does happen just log on and watch a show on your dvr until the heavy rain passes. I've never had any snow issues with a dish and it has to be coming down pretty damn hard to lose a tv signal. for the ability to pull up my account from work and have live tv running in the background for a midweek england or champions league match i'll gladly toss out 2 hours/year where I'm inconvenienced by missing a period of a Pens game

and, of course, when i'm travelling i can still watch by backlog of The League episodes :)

I think Betall needs to dig up his Baptism money in his backyard and spend more than 7cents per month on TV.

He gets the cheapest service, then complains........

Best thing about DirecTv is all of the perks, gifts, freebies, etc you can haul in by talking to customer retention and telling them that, for whatever reason, you are about to switch to local cable. Guaranteed you will get something. Good to do about twice a year.

Don't know how well it works with the other system.
