Did you ever play ping-pong growing up like I did?

I'll just say this, at a Bash or Rx gathering, I'd have no problem tossing in a $500-1k buy-in double elimination Tourney, and I feel pretty confident I'd have a great chance of winning (I'm sure they're several others here that feel the same way towards themselves). Make all the side wagers you want, label me as the dog, and I'll take every side wager I can get...

Win or lose, we can agree, I still have as much fun playing now as I did as a kid, and deep down inside, that's all that really matters to me. Look forward to some nice games with my daughter when she gets of age. Teach them well...

Game on!

You don't sound like one of them... but most social players *think* they are really good, but aren't.

Shit, most people probably don't know what the difference between a 40 and 40+ ball is... and that the ball size, material and scoring have changed over the years.

Tried to edit my post (didn’t mean to come off as harsh as I did, my apologies).

I hear ya! Normally when I play someone decent the first time I get that “Thank Gawd!” Look followed by, “whew, thought you were gonna be like the ones that normally they can play, which in return amounts to a 3 Ft high volley that’s lucky to make it to more than a shot or two...lol

My neighbor is pretty good and I can beat him so BRING IT ON!!!

I do agree though I hadn't played in years but like riding a bike, pretty much picked up where I left off from not paying in like 10 years. I remember there was a guy helping run a resort in Cancun (activities type, keep people having fun) and he was beating everyone. I played my son and he asked if I would play him. I said sure and I think he thought he was going to kill me.

After I beat him, I honestly think he was mad.

Oh yeah. I had a table growing up. We would have massive tourneys in the neighborhood. We would wheel it out in the driveway when it was nice out. We spent HOURS playing. I got pretty good too. Its funny, I might not play for a year, the second I pick up that paddle it all comes right back.

Yeah it's a game that pretty much anyone can play or learn in minutes and at least be able to maintain a soft volley

I haven't played in probably 10 years but could resume easily.

It would take me some time to fine tune my billiards game which certainly has gone to hell

I never could bowl worth a shit, maybe bowl a 138 with some practice

I'd definitely need to hone my former skills on the cancha as a pelotari... I don't think I could ever do that again at a high level.

Want to win in amateur ping pong? Put spin on the ball

Like tennis. Get a kick serve and you will beat most amateurs

I get a mental picture of many Rxer's at 13 years old playing ping pong in their parent's basement with their friends and playing for 25 cents a game to make it interesting...

We have all learned from an early age. It’s not rather you win or lose but if you cover the spread

Not bragging but back in my younger years I made a little spending money playing ping pong.
We had a table in our garage and every time friends came over, we broke out the paddles. I
could beat most of my friends but very seldom could beat my sister. The girl could play and
had NO mercy on the guys. I haven't played in maybe 20 years or so.

In college at SIU-E I would play in alot of their tournaments and always get to either the quarter or semi-finals and then play an Asian. That would be the end of my run.
