Two things. First is the mindset going into and through the fourth quarter. Ohio State was getting beat good into that fourth quarter and had been down 17-6 in the third quarter to an explosive Texas offense. Things looked bleak for OSU (my money was on OSU +9-- first time I ever bet these rust belt hillbillies) and they were being outplayed. OSU D kept playing like they knew they could win and offense stitched together a great final drive. If I'm the coach of a team that has a golden gift of coming back against a better team, I'm damned if I'm playing around with the clock (and risking a botched FG attempt)- I'm scoring anyway I can. Second, this Madden X-Box discussion is is moot because OSU won that game- the fourth down ball spot on Texas' final drive was a crime. I agree with many points in this thread but you cannot subtract 129 seconds left on the clock and work backwards in an Xbox fantasy league without framing 'em in the context of the game. The better team won the game. There is no way that the brilliant Hokum Horn coaches 'let' OSU score (and thereby extended the field from a FG to a touch) because they were so stone sure they could run the field with seconds ticking anymore than OSU coaches would have played around with the clock with a gift comeback.
