I would prefer a check after the flop. If everyone checks, great, free card. If someone bets you can probably just call, see it for cheap and maybe get a bunch of players in the pot when you are looking for nut flush with no pairs on the board. With what you played, a call was almost guaranteed and you were almost surely behind. Not a terrible play if you had some reason to believe this guy might fear you and fold an actual hand, but otherwise I'd prefer to play it slower.
My analysis may be wrong, just how I see it. Not an awful play by any means though, might help you set up the table for later on.
