You have more chance of being killed by a car than a terrorist.

In the UK we have the PTA, or the "Prevention of Terrorism Act."
If you are a mere 'maybe perhaps' suspect you can be rounded up and held pretty much indefinitely 'for security reasons.'
No warrant is necessary to search anyones premises under PTA legislation.

How many serious terrorist possibles are there in the UK? A hundred?

And yet a group of people like paedophiles can wander around freely, the state fully aware of their criminal intent and potential.
Thousands of them!

So who is a greater threat to society?
A hundred odd terrorists.
Thousands of paedophiles.

Its a crazy old world.

eek, i would have to agree. it is a messed up, crazy world with tons of things that threaten the peace. while the potential exists for abuse of power everywhere, it is my opinion that a comparison between nazi germany and the current u.s. government is a big-time stretch.

Its not the Nazi bit....
Heh.
Its the ease with which the masses can be manipulated, and a democracy is no exception.

...and how we are no smarter now than they (the Germans) were then.
