Robert Lewis Dear is a terrorist — and he basically admitted to it.
The accused Colorado Planned Parenthood shooter yelled “I am a warrior for the babies” during an outburst as charges against him were read in court.
The 57-year-old alleged mass shooter will face 179 charges related to last month’s shooting at the Colorado Springs clinic that left three dead and nine wounded.

He couldn't keep his mouth shut, according to reporters in the courtroom, where Dear argued with his attorney and made some 18 outbursts.

When he was arrested after an hours-long standoff, Dear muttered "no more baby parts," investigators said.
The cryptic message was a likely reference to Planned Parenthood's practice of providing aborted fetal tissue for research purposes. Dear also asked a bystander for directions to the clinic immediately before he allegedly opened fire.

The gunman's attack had been motivated by anti-abortion views, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains president Vicki Cowart said. And one of Dear's ex-wives claimed that the madman once vandalized a Planned Parenthood clinic in South Carolina two decades ago.
After the court appearance, Cowart released another statement, saying "our focus now is on recovery and making sure this never happens again."
"We continue to provide high-quality, compassionate health care in a safe, supportive environment," she wrote. "Every day since this terrible tragedy, Planned Parenthood's doors have been open across Colorado, across our Rockey Mountain region, and across this country. Our doors - and our hearts - stay open."
Dear is charged with first-degree murder, which could lead to life in prison or the death penalty. He is represented by lawyer Daniel King, a public defender who was also one of the lawyers for James Holmes, the mass shooter at the Colorado movie theater.
"Do you know who this lawyer is?" Dear yelled in court about King. "He's the lawyer for the Batman shooter. Who drugged him all up. And he wants to do that to me."

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The man accused of killing three people at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic stunned a courtroom Wednesday when he declared himself a “warrior for the babies” and said he was guilty and won’t go to trial.
Robert Lewis Dear, 57, made the outburst before he was formally charged with 179 counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder and other crimes.
Bearded, unkempt and cuffed at the wrists and ankles, Dear repeatedly disrupted the hourlong hearing, interrupting his public defender, Daniel King, and objecting to King’s attempts to limit publicity in the case.
King — who represented Colorado theater shooter James Holmes — has asked the judge to impose a gag order on participants in the Planned Parenthood case before a trial.
“You’ll never know what I saw in that clinic. Atrocities. The babies. That’s what they want to seal,” Dear shouted at one point, prompting a deputy to squeeze his shoulder in an effort to quiet him.

“Seal the truth, huh? Kill the babies. That’s what Planned Parenthood does,” Dear yelled later.
King did not address the outbursts but raised doubts about whether Dear is competent to stand trial, saying defense attorneys wanted investigators to turn over evidence as soon as possible so they could assess the “depth of his mental illness.”
“Do you know who this lawyer is?” Dear then exclaimed of King. “He’s the lawyer for the Batman shooter. Who drugged him all up. And that’s what they want to do to me.”
Holmes was on anti-psychotic medication during his trial this year in the 2012 shootings that killed 12 people and wounded 70. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Colorado Springs police have refused to discuss a potential motive in the Nov. 27 attack, which wounded nine. But even before Wednesday’s startling outbursts, there was mounting evidence that Dear was deeply concerned about abortion.
He rambled to authorities about “no more baby parts” after his arrest. And a law enforcement official told The Associated Press this week that Dear asked at least one person in a nearby shopping center for directions to the clinic before opening fire. The official was not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke this week to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

On Wednesday, Dear interjected as Judge Gilbert A. Martinez discussed a pretrial publicity order, saying, “Could you add the babies that were supposed to be aborted that day? Could you add that to the list?”
At one point, Dear yelled simply, “Protect babies!”
Later, he accused his attorneys of being in “cahoots” with Planned Parenthood to “shut me up.”
“I want the truth to come out. There’s a lot more to this than for me to go silently to the grave,” he shouted.
Dear has lived in remote locations without electricity or water and was known to hold survivalist ideas.
One of his three ex-wives, Barbara Mescher Micheau of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, said he vandalized a South Carolina abortion clinic at least 20 years earlier, announcing to her that he had put glue in the locks of its doors, a common protest technique among activists trying to shut down abortion clinics.
Killed in the attack were Garrett Swasey, 44, a University of Colorado-Colorado Springs officer who rushed to the scene; Ke’Arre Stewart, 29, an Iraq war veteran who was accompanying someone at the clinic; and Jennifer Markovsky, 35, who also accompanied a friend at the clinic.
Five other officers were shot and wounded in the rampage.
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said Monday that responding officers rescued 24 people from inside the clinic building and helped remove 300 people from surrounding businesses where they had been hiding while the shooting unfolded.
Martinez set the next hearing for Dear for Dec. 23. A first-degree murder conviction can lead to life in prison or the death penalty.
At the end of Wednesday’s hearing, the judge looked at Dear and said, “Are you finished?”

The gunman responsible for a deadly rampage inside a Louisiana movie theater last summer left a journal thanking the man accused of killing nine black people in a church.
In a rambling, handwritten 40-page journal released by police Wednesday, John Russell Houser described Dylann Roof as "green but good."
"Had Dylan Roof reached political maturity he would have seen the word is not (n-word), but liberal," Houser wrote. "But thank you for the wake up call Dylann."
Houser shot and killed two people and wounded nine others before fatally shooting himself inside an auditorium at The Grand 16 theater in Lafayette last July, police have said. Jillian Johnson, a 33-year-old musician and business owner, and Mayci Breaux, a 21-year-old student, died in the shooting.
Police recovered Houser's journal from the Motel 6 room in Lafayette where he had been staying since early July. It was released Wednesday along with photos from the motel room and a nearly 600-page, partially redacted investigative report.
On the lined pages of what appears to be type of school notebook, Houser laments the state of the U.S., calling it a "filth farm," and he rants against the news media, national political figures, women, gays and blacks.
"America as a whole is now the enemy," he wrote, also warning of impending problems for the country. "I have hidden nothing and have hated the US for at least 30 years. It will soon be every man for himself. A global rearrangement comes soon."
Investigators also found wigs and disguises in the motel room, suggesting Houser had hoped to escape after the shooting. Police have said he tried to blend in with the crowd of people fleeing after the shooting but turned back after spotting officers entering the theater.
Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft has said Houser visited the theater more than once, perhaps to determine "whether there was anything that could be a soft target for him." His only known connection to Lafayette was an uncle who died there three decades ago.
In the journal, Houser wrote that "soft targets are everywhere. Military police, etc. designations are not necessary."
Houser had a long history of erratic behavior in the Georgia and Alabama communities where he lived before the shooting in Lafayette, which is about 60 miles west of Baton Rouge.
In 2008, a Georgia judge ordered him detained for a mental evaluation after relatives claimed he was a danger to himself and others. But the judge said she didn't have him involuntarily committed. That could explain how he passed a federal background check in 2014, which enabled him to legally buy the .40-caliber handgun he used in the shooting from a pawn shop in Phenix City, Alabama.
Houser was a regular presence on right-wing extremist message boards, where he praisedAdolf Hitler and advised people not to underestimate "the power of the lone wolf," according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups. A former neighbor said Houser flew a large Confederate flag outside his home and a Nazi swastika outside a bar he owned, and put "doomsday" fliers in his neighbors' mailboxes.
Houser became estranged from his family and lost his businesses and his Phenix City home. When he was evicted, he ruined the property by pouring concrete into the plumbing and glue into the fixtures, police said. His estranged wife, Kellie Houser, filed for divorce in March 2015, claiming he lashed out at her and warned, "I'd better watch out because he always wins."
In August, "Trainwreck" star Amy Schumer spoke tearfully of the two women killed in the shooting as she urged lawmakers to support a gun control bill sponsored by her second cousin, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.
Less than a month after the Lafayette shooting, police in Tennessee shot and killed a mentally ill homeless man who attacked a Nashville-area movie theater with a pellet gun, an ax and pepper spray. The Tennessee shooting occurred while jurors in Colorado were weighing a death sentence for James Holmes, who killed 12 moviegoers and wounded 70 others at a movie theater in 2012.

That would be Waqar Hasan, a Muslim convenience storeowner who was gunned down by Mark Anthony Stroman in Texas. Hardly an average American, Stroman was a white supremacist with a felony criminal record who went on to shoot two more people in the following weeks. Immigrants to America have killed and have plotted to kill. However, the real threat comes from successive generations of Muslims living in the West, which have proven to be more radical and more dangerous than their parents. Muslim immigration thus means that more Americans will eventually die. The benefits that offset this reality are not entirely clear.
