Imho, Pistons may well cover this opener IF they come with heart, but winning outright would be a minor miracle. Heck, the Pistons were blown out twice at discombobulated New Jersey in the second round. Lakers at home are 15-0 vs. East this season, 6-0 over Detroit last six meetings, 9-0 in the playoffs. I'm just hoping the Pistons avoid getting run over by bringing a street fight attitude.

>>"Guaranteed," that's classic! LOL<<

The Bengal guy pulled it off, so did Sheed. Even Shrink is 1-1. Guarantees are on a roll.

Dante, not sure out to take that as I really made no prediction in the post. But I know you're a good man so I'll believe it's all good. I look for Pistons to give L.A. a hard time. I'll be taking the points whenever I can. Best of luck.

Dante, The gears in my mind can take a bit of time to mesh. You're right, bold prediction by EDG. Stranger things have happened.

Good call EDG. I took the points and Detroit but wasn't that brave to take the ML.

i thought we had all agreed the pistons have ZERO chance to win this series and games in LA.

there should be little doubt or discussion about the fact we are going to MI with LA UP 2-0 and if we come back to CA it will be 3-2 lakers with G6 being the last game of the season.

go ahead and bet the pistons on the M/L - just don't come here crying about your bet afterwards.

betting the pistons on the M/L in ANY game in LA is DUMB! you will lose your bet. save your money and bet it on something else - you stand a better chance for money spent on the pistons on the M/L is money lost

pistons ATS - that is another story. you might win that one - but SU? save me! NO PRAYER!

At first thought, this appears to be a re-match of the Sixers/Lakers series from a couple years ago. Sixers took advantage of an over-confident Lakers team and won Game One.

But looking @ the rosters, I'm really starting to wonder. If you had to rank the players, it would look something like this:

1) Shaq
2) Kobe
3-7 (in no particular order): Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton.
8) GP
9) Karl Malone

Obviously, Shaq/Kobe are much better than anybody on the Pistons. However, Shaq isn't nearly as dominant as he once was.

For years, the Lakers have relied on the combo of Shaq/Kobe and several role players. But now the Shaq/Kobe combo isn't as good, and the Lakers aren't getting much from their role players. GP and Malone aren't gonna give you a solid game every night, something they could've done 2-3 years ago. Malone has had some good games, but tonight he only scored FOUR points?

Bottom line is if the Pistons can keep the games in the low 170s or lower they will be in every game. Get up around 185 - 190 and you have to like the Lakers.

I have to agree it was a great prediction, but my main concern is that contrary to what was posted, Hamilton had a night to forget, and if you think that scoring 34 points is being hopeless, then we have a completely different perception of the concept, cause Shaquille Oneal looked very dominating to me, as well as Kobe and his 25 points.
Not saying that they played their best games, but they weren't in any way dominated. I think that this series will be decided on the bench and role players.
Still think Shaq and Kobe are good enough to carry the lakers to another NBA title, probably their last in some years to come.

Bottom line of Game 1...

Richard Hamilton flat out didnt show up offensively, and the Pistons still won the game holding the Lakers to 75 points. Kobe Bryant is guarding Hamilton, Hamilton is NOT guarding Kobe. The Kentucky coach taught T.Prince well, he has those long arms in case Kobe gets by him he can block Kobe almost automatic. What RIP is doing is not so much looking for his shot, he is playing cat and mouse with Kobe. Hamilton running around at 100 mph at the offensive side of the ball took a tole on Kobe big time. That's why half the time Kobe was just putting up outside shots on the other end hoping they would get in. Larry Brown is one smart sucker. He knows the Lakers dont play defense except for Kobe. Down the stretch he wont have any gas in him to play, and that's how Pistons wound up winning by 12 points.
Payton can not guard Billups, and Fisher is hopelessly undersized against him.

Hopelessness occurs when Shaq and Kobe get their share, and the rest of the team just watches.

Detroit does well on both ends of the floor.

Not to mention in Shaqs vocabulary, he had a GREAT DAY AT THE FREE THROW LINE.. And they still lost by 12 points...

Larry Brown and Pistons without a doubt will win the Title.

This is one of those moments when you are glad you were wrong...Go Pistons. I still think they won't win the title but it's always nice when those wimps lose...
