Have you noticed that many times when you want to be risky and put 'too much' on a wager, it is more often than not a bad wager and poor decision. Here is what I think: If you have such poor judgement (at that moment) that you want to over wager then your judgement about the contest is probably off, too! If I remember correctly, back in the day, you were usually pretty careful to wager a very fixed amount each time and I'm sure your even better this many years later.
So, here is a case of you having the correct idea, in hindsight, and making a mistake (not making an over sized wager) and getting a nice outcome.
