Then you have not had serious discussions with religious scholars or anyone remotely knowledgeable enough to give you the answers you're looking for.

No, I don't include myself in that group.
Do this mean ur laying down?

Just look at the other side Joe if you have some time. I know it can be hard to start thinking against something you have believed your whole life. Especially when taught to you by people you love and respect. I get that...

And no I wasn't even an opportunity to debate a religious scholar but I have watched some explain their side.

It still didn't make sense. Noah did make a hell of a boat though---very modern and good job getting all those animals in there ;)

Of course the disciples are first hand knowledge. The disciples were Jesus's closest friends and believers who followed him around everywhere he went.

Hence the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, which are not written as a biographical account of Jesus's life, rather to spread his teachings throughout humanity.

Same story and events - different perspectives.

Paul came after.

I know this may shock you, but the Bible is not written for the skeptic or historian, it is written for believers. And nobody is forcing you to believe anything, least of all Jesus.
Joe. We have no writing of the disciples.

The gospels mentioned them as they mentioned Jesus.

We don't have a written word from Peter that tells of Jesus(nor from any of the 11 others).

Once again. We have numerous written words from many writers that had covered the time period of when and where Jesus was suppose to have lived..

Not one---including the disciples wrote any first hand knowledge of Jesus.

Paul was the closest and that was dreams(haha).

Then all of a sudden 100 years later(and this was the earliest) people started writing about Jesus. No first hand accounts no 2nd hand accounts.

Sure if you had something written by the disciples and not about them---then you have something. Or really of any writer during that period.

The old adage on this was----the Romans had everything destroyed that mentioned Jesus---sure.

I once asked a Priest why dinosaurs aren't mentioned in the Bible.

I'll never forget his answer.

"Dinosaurs never existed but the bones were placed there by the devil and allowed by God to test ur faith"----even at 14 I remember thinking "ugh"

I know the Bible does mention beasts and such.

But its rather clear that man and dinosaurs(beasts, seamonsters, whatever) never co-existed.

He created heavens and the earth. Then he created man. Not that he created dinosaurs thought this is boring and then created Adam and Eve.

You would think that would be a big point to mention. That he created these great beasts to rule the earth for millions of years first...

This is historically inaccurate.

This is historically inaccurate.

Got through to Paul. Article mentions his writings of Jesus and conveniently leaves out that Paul never met Jesus his writings are all from dreams.

So yes that article is deceptively dishonest and purposely mis-leading.

What do Christian writings tell us?

The value of this evidence is that it is both early and detailed. The first Christian writings to talk about Jesus are the epistles of St Paul, and scholars agree that the earliest of these letters were written within 25 years of Jesus’s death at the very latest, while the detailed biographical accounts of Jesus in the New Testament gospels date from around 40 years after he died. These all appeared within the lifetimes of numerous eyewitnesses, and provide descriptions that comport with the culture and geography of first-century Palestine. It is also difficult to imagine why Christian writers would invent such a thoroughly Jewish saviour figure in a time and place – under the aegis of the Roman empire – where there was strong suspicion of Judaism.

Dreams? You mean Paul saw a ghost: the ghost of Jesus (the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth).

You don't have to believe, but Paul's Road to Damascus wasn't a dream, crude.

On the Road to Damascus, Saul and his companions were struck down by a blinding light. Saul heard a voice say, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" (Acts 9:4, NIV)

When Saul asked who was speaking, the voice replied: "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." (Acts 9:5-6, NIV)

What did non-Christian authors say about Jesus?

As far as we know, the first author outside the church to mention Jesus is the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who wrote a history of Judaism around AD93. He has two references to Jesus. One of these is controversial because it is thought to be corrupted by Christian scribes (probably turning Josephus’s negative account into a more positive one), but the other is not suspicious – a reference to James, the brother of “Jesus, the so-called Christ”.

About 20 years after Josephus we have the Roman politicians Pliny and Tacitus, who held some of the highest offices of state at the beginning of the second century AD. From Tacitus we learn that Jesus was executed while Pontius Pilate was the Roman prefect in charge of Judaea (AD26-36) and Tiberius was emperor (AD14-37) – reports that fit with the timeframe of the gospels. Pliny contributes the information that, where he was governor in northern Turkey, Christians worshipped Christ as a god. Neither of them liked Christians – Pliny writes of their “pig-headed obstinacy” and Tacitus calls their religion a destructive superstition.

So even with this stuff. We have Paul and his dreams and voices from the sky. Never saw a human Jesus.

Then the writings 93 years after Jesus and then 113 years after Jesus.

This article previously stated that the first Gospel was written 40 years after Jesus(lol) But following that time line couldn't Flavius just have read the Gospel according to Mark?

Doesn't really matter though, these time lines are so off. Who even cares about other writings if the Gospel of Mark was already written 50 years previous.

It's just a terrible article.

There are plenty of historians and scholars (both Christian and non-believers) who have documented the life of Jesus, although obviously a great number of familiar nefarious forces seeking to "debunk" these historical accounts for their own agenda and control over the masses.

We all know why.
