I agree with Engbloom. The Rangers are missing that grit tonight. Why the fuck does he sit Avery?

He's the reason their even playing this game tonight.

Bad move on Tortorella's part.

I don't care what he did the other day.

I'm not sure, It can go either way I think. But if there is a game six then the rangers will have a fired up and maybe a little more disciplined Avery.

I just never liked the guy I guess...all the way back since him and cammi were roomates in los ang.

But yes the numbers do show some how that they need avery

It's easy to say in hindsight that the Rangers need Avery tonight. However, I don't know how you can justify keeping that guy in the lineup when he has not contributed a single point, while piling up 24 penalty minutes. Nobody on the team will talk to him, and you can bet that there were few, if any, complaints when the decision was made. I don't really see where Avery makes a difference in this game...

In the regular season, he averaged 1.9 penalty minutes per game.
He is averaging 6 penalty minutes per game in the playoffs this year.

In the regular season, he contributed 2/3 pt per game.
In the playoffs... zilch.

That's why he's out. That's why it's the right move. Rangers are fortunate to have one of the best coaches in the business, but even he could not control this freak. Someone find the picture of Avery with his stick blade on Ovie's throat last game... the guy should be committed.

Without Avery the Rangers don't even make the playoffs.

WITH him in the lineup his team is up 3-1 and in control of the series.

Enough said.

By that logic, the Rangers are up 3-1 and in control of the series due to Steve Valiquette. At least he has stayed out of the box.

It's not even like Avery is causing the Caps to take stupid penalties, or that he is doing the little things in front of the net to make the NYR PP click.

I realize what the regular season record is with Avery in the lineup, but at least there is some proof of a contribution there.
