Very true, the Tico culture's number one problem is their negative defeatest attitude. You can see it in big concepts like how the government is run, or in every single person, how they accept "how things are" and even defend them to other people.
If you get robbed, it's your fault for carrying cash on you, or for being in a dangerous area... If your application was rejected, it's your fault for not bribing enough.
It's as if Ticos are programmed to take shit and accept it. This is why Costa Rica will never grow or improve... It's enjoyed a boom the last few years thanks to the vacation property market, but now that developers are pulling out, costs of living are increasing, and crime is getting out of control... I'm not looking forward to the next couple of years. Too bad I probably won't be able to sell my house for at least that long.
