Metro Sources: Metro officer shot in the head at Circus Circus; working another shooting in front of Federal Courthouse
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Information continues to pour in about two shootings Metro Police are working. Metro sources tell 8 News Now one of their officers was shot in the head at Circus Circus.
At the Federal Courthouse, officers reportedly fired on a suspect who fired a shot at the courthouse. The suspect was hit several times. There is no word on his condition.

Just before midnight on June 1, police taped off areas near Circus Circus and another downtown by the federal courthouse.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. David Gordon said no information was immediately available on either scene but to expect details "in the morning."
Las Vegas police and other agencies were also heavily in the area of University Medical Center. Avoid all areas due to police activity.

Metro police sources confirm to 8 News Now that a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer who was shot in the head near Circus Circus late Monday night is on life support at UMC.
According to Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo who held a news conference at 3 a.m., police were attempting to disperse protesters in front of Circus Circus Hotel & Casino when people in the crowd began throwing bottles and rocks at the officers and the officers began to take some people into custody.
A source told 8 News Now, as one officer was in a struggle with a protester, another person walked up and shot the officer in the back of the head. The shooting suspect was taken into custody around 2 a.m.
“This is a sad night for our LVMPD family and a tragic night for our community,” Lombardo said.
A separate shooting involving police left a man dead near the Lloyd George Federal Building on Las Vegas Boulevard.
According to Sheriff Lombardo, “At approximately 11:22 p.m., officers encountered a subject who was armed with multiple firearms and appeared to be wearing body armor,” Lombardo said. “During the interaction the subject reached for a firearm and the officers engaged him The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

Look at our Governor.... Cant protect our police or citizens.... There was another different protest yesterday, and hearing the last few days there are 10's of thousands still trying to claim unemployment and he wont fix the system. Nevada is dead last in UI benefits being paid out, small businesses have been waiting over 3 months and havent received the FEDERAL CARES money. People are calling for an investigation into that

A man suspected of shooting a Las Vegas police officer late Monday during a Black Lives Matter protest is identified in jail and court records as 20-year-old Edgar Samaniego.
He faces one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of discharging a gun where a person might be endangered, according to the records. His initial appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Las Vegas Justice Court.
Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said early Tuesday that the officer, who has not been identified, was “in extremely critical condition on life support” at University Medical Center. The officer was shot as a melee was erupting in front of Circus Circus during the fourth night of protests against police brutality in Las Vegas.
According to court records, Samaniego was arrested in April on charges of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and misdemeanor DUI. He has been out of custody since posting bond on April 2, and a criminal complaint in the drug case had not been filed as of Tuesday, according to the records
