During the regular season, NE's D was ranked #6, right behind Denver ... in rush D, NE is ranked 3rd, leveling the playing field (in my opinion) between the two rush attacks. So this game will come down to passing and the offensive line, both areas where the edge goes to the Colts. Provided the weather isn't a major factor, Indy should be able to pull this one out ... Manning has never won in Foxboro before, and this has been his year to break those 'never has' streaks.

Cappers,

This game is tailor made for Belichick. Throttling high powered offenses is his specialty. His job is made easier because the weak Inndy defense gives him an advantage on the other side of the ball.

People fall in lvoe with glamour offenses. While they are fun to watch, we all know that the latest trend is that a strong defense will win the big games.

Looking back at 2001, the pats faced a better offense in the BB (rams 01), in a dome, and Bellicheck was ready for it. Now his defense is better, they are at home, Facing a weak defense, in t eh cold, agaisnt an outdoor team, with a qb who has never won in Foxboro.

Add to this, the fact that the pats already beat the Colts on the road, when injured, and I cant see a good reason not to take them.

Manning is the glamour player in this game, but glamour does not win championships.

Belichick has a way of making these great offences look ordinary.

2001 Rams and 90 Bills in the superbowl are 2 examples.

stats on week 13 game

ne 38-34 win over ind

notice james had sucess running while pats couldnt

checkout the pass attempts- both teams aired it out

how will bellicheck stop indy? you think different gameplan? the problem w/ indy is their great balance. i think the key is for pats to get a lead to get james out of the game. thats going to be tough and very unlikely. right now the way manning is clicking you have to blitz and sack him. but his quick release and his off line is strong and will leave the def coverage wide open. damn if you do damn if you dont.

A KEY POINT - YES INDY DEFENSE LOOKED HORRIBLE ALSO LIKE KC THIS WEEKEND BUT.....

...NE OFF IS NO KC OFFENSE...

Colts gallop into Foxboro for AFC Title Game
They both could have crooned Sinatra's MyWay after their games last weekend.
The Colts did it with offense, getting 38 points on the road at Arrowhead Stadium, while the Patriots ground out a tight game at home and got a Vinatieri FG late to beat Tennessee.

So whose way will prevail Sunday in the AFC title game?

Indianapolis looks to extend its run of 3 straight road wins at the expense of the New England Patriots Sunday.

Sporting a 12-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark within the division, the Colts aim to knock the Patriots (5-1 In the division) for a loss.

The Patriots are favored, opening as 3.5-point chalk, with an opening total of 42.5. They are 14-1-1 ATS this season and 6-9-1 OU. The Colts are 9-6-1 ATS and are 9-7 OU.

Tony Dungy's team hopes to build upon a 20-17 win over Houston. They were 8.5-point favorites and failed to cover the spread. The game went under the total

New England won at home last game as a 9.5-point favorite against Buffalo, winning 31-0. The total sailed under.

Indianapolis will look to air it out this week and they continue to boast one of the league's best aerial attacks games. They are averaging 261.0 yards per game through the air and boast the #1 pass offence.

Some trends to consider:
Indianapolis are 2-4-1 ATS in their last 7 games after being .5 to 3 point underdogs
Indianapolis are 2-5-0 OU in their last 7 games away against New England
Indianapolis are 2-4-0 ATS in their last 6 away games against New England
Indianapolis are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 away games
New England are 5-0-0 ATS in their last 5 games against Indianapolis
New England are 5-0-0 SU in their last 5 games after scoring 10 to 20 points
New England are 5-0-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring 10 to 20 points
New England are 12-1-0 ATS in their last 13 games

De Niro...great points,I'll admit I'm a homer, but 2 of the Indy TD came off turnovers by Brady.
Brady has 0 picks at home this year.
Very tough for anyteam to win 2 straight on the road...the Pats got their scare saturday.
Anybody in the know (players) knows that Indy is a very soft team.
Brady was totally embarresed that the Pats almost blew a 21 point lead to the Colts.
Manning is playing as good as you can get and still only won by a TD to tackiling dummies KC.
Hard for one player to maintain that profeciency.

Total D

NE #7 in D 291.6
IND #11 in D 299.3

Pass D

NE #4 @ 202.
IND #2 @ 175.6

Run D

NE #4 @ 89.6
IND #20 @ 123.8

The Colts played a 4 man front against KC. Gave Holmes about as much as he could ask for. This week, I think the colts will use a scheme to try and shut down the NE running game, then make it a Brady vs Manning show. I like the Manning adv. James looks to be 100% back.

Manning only 10 Int's this season, and 18 sacks with 4 of those coming in one game.

NE rushing off #27 @ 100.4
IND #19 @ 105.9

Should be a good game. Most likely the loser will beat themselves.

New England by DD. This will be the best defense that Indy has faced in the playoffs. You have to think that Belichik will come up with something to confuse Manning.

Here's one thing you probably didn't know since everyone was so busy kissing Peyton and the Colt's offense's asses but THE CHIEFS DIDN'T PUNT ONCE EITHER!!!!! If Trent Green can tear up the Colts defense the way he did, Brady (possibly the smartest QB in the league) will not be stopped either.

Indy put up 34 on them in the 1st meeting and only 1 yard from putting up 41. Same teams. I like the revenge factor as well. I still believe it will be mistakes that beat either team. They will beat themselves.

General,

I just read in USA today (front page) that the east coast is expecting record lows for the rest of the week and continue into sunday.

I'm guessing you got the forecast from weather.com. I just went to Europe in December and was using this site to guage the weather. It said it would rain the entire trip right up till the day we left, so we packed for rain. We get to Paris....blue sunny skies for 11 straight days! Even while we were there I was checking the website (and the rx) and it was saying it was raining!!!!

I guess right now it's anyone's guess...but 31 degrees is a lot warmer than 1 degree.

Local forecast has WC's forcast about the same.Mild day in NE.

One other thing about the the Pats.better defense, better special teams.Thats almost 2/3rds of of team much better.
Also, General when talking about the Pats where they rank in the league yardage wise is decieving the points scored aganst at home is a better barometer....The D was already talking how they were dissapointed that they gave up 14 at home to Tenn. and talking about improving.
