Powell is in the twilight of his career and quickly becoming irrelevant. He is desperately trying to define his legacy.

Bullshit. That lion still garners more respect for the republican party, than any current republican politician, conservative television and radio combined.

LOL! If Powell is irrelevant, then the republican party itself is a non-factor.

LOL, this one thinks that a guy who endorsed Obama is the most respected Republican. Right, maybe the most respected by Democrats, not by the base.

His conclusion of course, is lost in left field.

Powell is beginning to remind me a lot of Sharpton and Jackson, they talk and no one listens. When was the last time Powell was relevent? You’re right the Republican Party is going to be a non-factor as soon as the Minnesota comedian gets to the senate. A filibuster proof senate is dangerous no matter which party is in power. Don’t kid yourself, if the economy don’t improve drastically by 2010, it’s bye-bye majority.

The Republican Party is dying, no doubt. Thanks in no small part to incompetent office holders like Colin Powell, maybe the worst Secretary of State in my lifetime.

"Marxist society would be heaven." -- GTC08
hes right about coulter. that idiot kills the image of this party. palin has turned into a joke to.

if the conservative movement had some legit voices id probably side with them.

i like there fiscal ideas more then the dems. ive said timeand again i was against the bailout so im not a switcher either.

i like the lowering taxes, lowering business tax to bring in people and businesses.

like oreilly said though, the republican party cant even come up with a theme, let alone communicate ideas to the american people.

It's dying because of GWB's 2nd term and the timing of the economy. The hatred for Bush is killing the party.

Willie, the moment Powell endorsed Obama was the moment his party turned on him. You and everyone knows it. If Powell woulda thown in his hat into primaries he woulda been a runaway lock into the general. And as far as the base not respecting him, exactly what base are you talking about? Because if you mean you folks who take your marching orders from Rush or Sean? Well then sure. That small "base" of people don't respect him because they're told not to.

We don't get marching orders, we tend to live our lives and raise our families, that's all.

Marching orders are issued by the likes of Unions, Gay Rights Activists, PETA, African American community leaders, Femanazis, Gorebullshit worshipers, Moveon.Org and other special interest groups. They vote Democratic by an overwhelming majority because they want some sort of government assistance / program to benefit them.

Conservatives just want an opportunity to pursue happiness and take responsibility for their own lives. We simply live in a different world. Of course, being from the party that survives based a special interest marching orders, you wouldn't know the difference.
