Welcome back Alex and good ck in 2017

Cobb allowed one run and four hits over 5⅔ solid innings against the Yankees in a 4-1 victory, earning his first W at the Trop since Aug. 21, 2014, when he beat former teammate David Price and his-then Detroit Tigers 1-0.

"Really special," manager Kevin Cash said. "Obviously for him, for us. His teammates were really pumped. Coming out taking the ball from him, a lot of good messages were said. When the inning ended, (Evan Longoria) comes in and gives him a big hug. Had to be pretty special for those guys that were together for a long time."

Alex Cobb has been on quite the run for the Rays, allowing two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. Over his last two starts he is 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA and a 0.783 WHIP.

Additionally, Cobb has been great at keeping the ball in the ball park, giving up 13 home runs this season and that seems to be the only way the Rangers can score runs. They rank third in the MLB in long balls, but 28th in average.

Good luck with The Orioles

Cobb, who makes his Orioles debut in Saturday’s second game of a four-game series with the Red Sox at Fenway Park, is 6-4 lifetime against Boston, 5-1 with a 3.15 ERA at Fenway.
He is 21-13 against the division, 11-5 in the four venues, also posting a 23-19 career record at the Trop in St. Petersburg, his old home address.
Some of his divisional success is a 6-2 mark against the Orioles, 3-1 at Camden Yards, the latter stat a good sign of a pitcher doing well in a hitter’s park. His only sub-.500 mark in any is a 1-2 record at Yankee Stadium. But he went 5-2 against the Yanks in Florida.

Glad he looked good today:

Alex Cobb (1-0) was steady in his first start since April 2019 after missing most of last season with a hip injury that required surgery. Cobb mostly kept the Red Sox off balance, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six in 5 1/3 innings of work.
