but you are acting like the franklin years weren't an anomaly. They were 1-15 in SEC before he got there and will be 1-15 after he left so just a resumption of futility IMHO. he put in a few nice years in a very down SEC east and parlayed that into a big contract at state penn. good for him...i guess
Something tells me Vandy fans don't share your opinion...

West Virginia may be in trouble because most of their returning talent is on the defensive side of the ball, and Holgorsen does not know what that word means. They have a shot at improvement because of a soft non-con schedule and getting Texas Tech, Texas and Iowa State at home. That, plus a game at Kansas may be enough to give them 7 wins and a bowl game.

London will be very lucky to repeat last year's 5 win total. Non con games at UCLA, and at home to Notre Dame, William and Mary, and Boise State add up to a 1-3 start. There is no way short of a miracle they go 4-4 in conference play. London is 11-25 since his 8-5 start at UVA. He should be finished after this season.

At Va. Tech, HC Beamer calls his own shots. He will retire after next season, which will be his 30th. It plays out well, because Tech's last game of the 2016 regular season is at home against Virginia. He also has 15 starters returning this year, so do not sell him short.

Al Golden starts his 5th year at Miami, and it could be his last. Golden could have walked away from Miami when they were going through all of their problems, but he stuck it out. He deserved to coach there for 5 years. This season is year 5. Things are different. He has never defeated Florida State, and and he has never lost less than 4 games. Both of those things had better change if he wants to see 2016 in Miami.

Look for for wvu to be better.....10 back on defense, best corner was suspended 3 games last yr...2 ol returning, but they got a transfer from mich that can play and will be a big help....all Rb are back...qb is the question mark, but I think holgs will run the qb more along with the Rb more than he has in his entire career...I'm looking at 9-3 right now with them....

i like vt to win that side of acc...no Clem ,no fsu on the schedule...Beamer holding out so his son can get the job....dark horse to follow him? Rod at arz...new vt ad came from WVU when rod was there. They stay in touch and it's a way for rod to get back east...

Agree here... I could see vandy turning into Kansas and going 0-fer in the conference for a few years...

Unfortunately, this is true.

MM, I can't remember if you are Clemson or South Carolina. If you are a Gamecock fan you will
be pleasantly surprised at the end of the season. Spurrier will surprise!

Frank Beamer has been an outstanding coach at Virginia Tech (231-115-2) during his 28 years in Blacksburg. First, I believe the Hokies will be a pretty good team this season after three very average years (22-17). Second, I think you may be right BD about Beamer retiring after the 2016 season. These coaches set goals and 30 years is a good one for Coach Beamer.

West Virginia will win at Kansas. I do not see them winning another away game. Losses at Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU and Kansas State seems near certain. I am not too sure about home wins against Oklahoma State or Texas. 9-3 seems to be near impossible. 7-5 is certainly more like it. They return a lot of players on defense, but their defense was very bad last season, giving up 31 or more points 7 times.

As far as Beamer goes, I have been told that he retires after the 2016 season. This is why he is pushing so hard to be able to name his replacement now. As far as the 2016 schedule goes, he plays Tennessee at the Bristol Motor speedway and Notre Dame at South Bend and finishes up the following week after the Notre Dame game at home against Virginia.

BD, what if any coach in the Pac needs a good season?

Once the season starts, I never bet nor keep up with the surfer boys.
