They offered him an extension in the offseason that basically got rid of his buyout, so that they could fire him if they chose to do so. He didn't sign and has one year left on his existing contract. With each win, his price is going up and he's also being rumored for other jobs so we will see what happens. And you're right about his off the field problems early in Morgantown, though he has matured a lot. He was basically protected by Oliver Luck, the former AD, as he was "his" guy.

Didn't know that about the contract. Good info. Thanks.

Petrino would improve LSU offense if they went after him.

I think Petrino is done job hopping. He's still young enough to build a program somewhere (55 years old), but I think Louisville would match most programs (except for Texas or Alabama). Talk about coming back after a fall from grace.

Petrino is a hot name for sure and I think he's always wanted a "destination job". Louisville is very central for recruiting and his style of play is great for grabbing those electric players, but I still think he wants a bigger job. I could see petrino getting offered the lsu job for sure. I bet he would love another shot at the sec and this time in the absolute hotbed of recruiting. Although that job comes with a ton of pressure and he may like others have said, want to build up his own style of program.... hell bring him to Oregon lol.... at this point, I'd settle for petrino, fleck, Herman or Kelly. No reason Oregon couldn't get one of those guys, although I think petrino is off the table for sure given his recent success. He will stay for another year or two at least.

I'm shocked holgersen is doing as well as he is in West Virginia. Just a tough area to recruit too in all reality. So many other schools around that east coast for kids to go to, wvu almost gets lost in translation. I think Herman lands at Texas for sure. I think fleck gets a big offer and I wouldn't be surprised to see Oregon go after him. I could see chip Kelly basically landing anywhere, literally anywhere. Wouldn't be shocked to see lsu really go after him hard either. They need an overhaul offensively and he would be that guy to do it. With those athletes, sheeeeesh. Lookout.

Does anyone think stoops leaves? What about Baylor? That's a program that's dumping a ton of money into everything, they need a big name coach.

If Stoops leaves Norman, won't be for any other reason than they fire him. It will be 17 years since the last title, I'm certain the "natives are restless." I will admit that Petrino makes sense for LSU, he's from the same mold as the Mad Hatter......crooked, LOL.

I still say Petrino stays put. I imagine Louisville put in a mega-buyout in his contract as well.

Does anyone offer Briles a job?

LMAO! I saw the ESPN interview with him and after watching that, I'm convinced he believes he'll be back at Baylor next season. GoSooners is a lot closer to the situation since I moved from OK to NC, but I couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth. My impression was he accepts little to no culpability for what happened........Call it Sandusky II with a twist, LOL.

Well it seems Herman to Texas is all but official at this point if you believe Benjamin Allbright on Twitter.
