read about that guy last night. not only calls for abolishment of Israel at this pro-Palestine conference but then recants on twitter and said that wasn't at all what he meant. damn, fella, at least own up to what you say. There is no grey area when you are calling for Palestinian ownership from the River to the Sea with Israel sitting dead center of that geography.

maybe he should be Ocasio-Cortez's running mate and they can run on the platform to abolish Israel? should work well

[h=1]This is CNN? Marc Lamont Hill’s anti-Israel comments don’t jibe with network’s anti-hate coverage[/h]
flood_update.jpg

By Brian Flood | Fox News

[h=4]CNN's Marc Lamont Hill under fire for Israel comments[/h]A look at the comments from CNN's Marc Lamont Hill that some critics are calling anti-Israel.

Someone at CNN must have forgotten to tell Marc Lamont Hill about the cable news channel’s vaunted campaign against “America’s state of hate” in time to stop the ubiquitous contributor from calling for a violent uprising against Israel in a vile speech to the UN.
CNN recently published a feature series on that sought to put a spotlight on racism and hate crimes that have occurred in the United States. CNN also published a look at widespread anti-Semitism in Europe earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner published a piece on Thursday headlined, “Is CNN now just okay with genocidal rhetoric aimed at Jews?”

Hill lambasted Israel in a UN speech that drew applause from diplomats on Wednesday, while calling for a "free Palestine from the river to the sea" -- language critics describe as a "dog whistle" advocating the elimination of Israel. The network is now being widely condemned over Hill’s comment.
“In the Trump era, CNN has made countering racism and hatred a large part of their news coverage, so with Marc Lamont Hill's latest comments calling for the elimination of Israel ‘from the river to the sea,’ it faces a test of whether employing genocidal rhetoric targeting Jews is okay,” Washington Examiner executive editor Philip Klein wrote.
"CNN has made countering racism and hatred a large part of their news coverage, so with Marc Lamont Hill's latest comments calling for the elimination of Israel ‘from the river to the sea,’ it faces a test of whether employing genocidal rhetoric targeting Jews is okay"
— Philip Klein
Klein pointed out that CNN has decided hateful comments and actions by personalities such as Kathy Griffin and Reza Aslan have “crossed the line,” so the network clearly has some boundaries. Klein then asked, “Does Hill's eliminationist rhetoric make the cut? If not, then why?”
CNN did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Klein continued: “If CNN decides to keep Hill on, they at least owe their viewers a detailed explanation as to why they believe genocidal rhetoric against Jews is within the boundaries of legitimate debate, and why it's more acceptable than statements that have had led to the dismissals of other CNN personalities.”
DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall told Fox News that CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker surely knew what he was getting when Hill was hired as a political commentator for the network -- as he’s always voiced strong opinions.
“The challenge for CNN now is to decide if it wants to continue its association with Hill, basically deciding if the sort of advocacy that was on display by Hill at the U.N. fits in with the role of an on-air commentator,” McCall said. “One of the problems with hiring highly charged political commentators for television is that those commentators tend to make highly charged remarks. CNN might well appreciate this kind of rhetoric and the attention it draws, but they might also consider if there are other, more measured voices that could provide perspectives in a diplomatic fashion that enhances rather than inflames dialogue.”

— Jeffrey McCall
In the remarks, Hill also accused the Israeli government of “normalizing settler colonialism” and drew a comparison to the civil rights movement in America and suggested violence could be a tool for Palestinian activists.
“If we are standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, we must recognize the right of an occupied people to defend itself. We must prioritize peace, but we must not romanticize or fetishize it,” the CNN regular said.
At one point, Hill even poured himself some water and told participants that he just got off a flight from “Palestine” and that “I was boycotting the Israeli water so I was unable to quench my thirst.”
Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News that Hill’s comments are an example of “the normalization of left-wing, genocidal anti-Semitism,” and compared it to rhetoric by Louis Farrakhan – who has been tied to Hill in the past.
“Hill works for two media outlets -- BET News and CNN -- and I bet neither one of them thinks there is anything wrong with the genocide he is advocating. Watch the major media ignore this story like they typically censor any story about liberal bigots,” Gainor said.

Many watchdogs took to Twitter to condemn Hill's comments and point out his role at CNN.

[h=1]Winner of CNN’s ‘Journalist of the Year’ Award Faked Stories for Years[/h]

[h=2]German magazine Der Spiegel apologised to readers on Wednesday for publishing “invented stories” and content with “distorted facts” by one of its reporters. It identified Claas Relotius, a recent winner of CNN’s “Journalist of the Year” award, as confessing to the production of fake news.[/h]Der Spiegel‘s management wrote:
In recent years, DER SPIEGEL published just under 60 articles by reporter and editor Claas Relotius. He has now admitted that, in several instances, he either invented stories or distorted facts.
Claas Relotius, a reporter and editor, falsified his articles on a grand scale and even invented characters, deceiving both readers and his colleagues. This has been uncovered as a result of tips, internal research and, ultimately, a comprehensive confession by the editor himself.
Relotius’s deception was discovered after Juana Moreno, who worked with Relotius on a fabricated story of an American vigilante group paroling the U.S.-Mexico border entitled, “Hunter’s Border,” shared his suspicions of his colleague’s mendacity with Der Spiegel.

Der Spiegel’s management added:
Claas Relotius committed his deception intentionally, methodically and with criminal intent. For example, he included individuals in his stories who he had never met or spoken to, telling their stories or quoting them. Instead, he would reveal, he based the depictions on other media or video recordings. By doing so, he created composite characters of people who actually did exist but whose stories Relotius had fabricated. He also made up dialogue and quotes.
“I am sick and I now have to allow myself be helped,” Relotius told Der Spiegel in his confession. “It wasn’t because of the next big thing. It was fear of failing. My pressure to not be able to fail got ever bigger the more successful I became.”
The Guardian reported:
[Claas Relotius] resigned after admitting to the scam. He had written for the magazine for seven years and won numerous awards for his investigative journalism.

Earlier this month, he won Germany’s Reporterpreis (Reporter of the Year) for his story about a young Syrian boy, which the jurors praised for its “lightness, poetry and relevance”. It has since emerged that all the sources for his reportage were at best hazy, and much of what he wrote was made up.
CNN awarded Relotius its 2014 “Journalist of the Year” award.

[h=3]Star CNN personality Ana Navarro rolled her eyes and filed her nails as a conservative guest Steve Cortes described innocent Americans murdered by illegal aliens.[/h]
Steve Cortes: You can do your nails. You know who can’t do their nails are people killed by illegal aliens who’ve been allowed to stay in this country because of leftist policies that people like you promote in so-called sanctuary cities.
Navarro then started screaming at the guest saying, “I don’t care what you have to say.”

San Diego station claims CNN asked for local border wall perspective, but backed off when response favored Trump

San Diego’s KUSI accused CNN of backing of a request for a local border wall perspective when the response was pro-wall.

A San Diego television station has accused CNN of asking for a local perspective on the border wall debate, then backing off when the response didn’t fit the network's anti-Trump agenda.
“As a sign of the times in this debate on the shutdown, CNN asked if KUSI would provide a reporter to offer our local view of the debate, especially to learn if the wall works in San Diego,” a KUSI anchor Anna Laurel said on Thursday.

The McKinnon Broadcasting-owned KUSI is an independent station that is not an affiliate of a major broadcast network. It accused CNN of the agenda-driven maneuver both on air and on its verified Twitter account, which has over 62,000 followers. The network explained that it offered the services of veteran reporter Dan Plante, who has reported that the wall is effective.
“Knowing this, CNN declined to have us on their programs, which often present the wall as not required in other places like the stretch of the Texas border the president visited,” Laurel said. “They didn’t like what they heard from us.”
CNN’S JIM ACOSTA MOCKED FOR ACCIDENTALLY PROVING THAT BORDER WALLS WORK
KUSI digital content manager Mike McKinnon III wrote on the network’s website, “We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work.”

KUSI News
@KUSINews

Thursday morning, @CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if a reporter could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown. After we informed them about our past reports, they declined to hear from us.

McKinnon added that KUSI has “continuously been told by Border Patrol agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States.”
A CNN spokesperson dismissed the incident as a "non story."
"That happens many times every single day," the spokesperson told Fox News. "We did, however, book a reporter from KUSI for a story on immigration and the border wall on CNN in November. This is a non story."
TRUMP UNLOADS ON ABC NEWS REPORTER JONATHAN KARL IN FIERY OVAL OFFICE EXCHANGE
Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News that “this kind of manipulation is what journalists have been doing for decades and CNN is a master at it.” Ironically, the accusation came as CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta was mocked by everyone from media watchdogs to President Trump himself for accidently supporting the argument that border barriers improve security.
Acosta posted a series of video from the southern border on Thursday meant to downplay Trump's claims of a border crisis, but he was quickly ridiculed because he claimed there was “no sign of the national emergency that the president has been talking about” and it was “tranquil” near him while standing at a section of the border that has a wall.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders even retweeted Acosta’s video with a proud response: “When I went with President @realDonaldTrump to the border today I never imagined @Acosta would be there doing our job for us and so clearly explaining why WALLS WORK. Thanks Jim!”
CNN has developed a reputation of being anti-Trump, as its programming is loaded with outspoken liberals and conservatives who openly disagree with the president. CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker has a long history with Trump and once helped increase his star power by greenlighting “The Apprentice” when he was an executive at NBC. Since then, Zucker and Trump have been in an ongoing feud that has resulted in the president calling CNN “fake news” on a regular basis.
KELLYANNE CONWAY SCOLDS ACOSTA DURING HEATED EXCHANGE: 'YOU'RE SUCH A SMARTA--'
“If I have to choose who is telling the truth, KUSI or CNN, that's easy. I've never seen KUSI lie. I've seen CNN do it tons of times,” Gainor said. “They hype the issues they want and suppress those they oppose. Look at the border. They send Jim Acosta to Texas to try and undermine the case for the wall. But they don't blanket their network with visits to the families of victims of illegal immigrant crime. If the media did that, Americans would swarm Washington demanding a wall.”

“Journalism, especially at CNN, is made up of thousands of actions by overwhelmingly liberal staff. Yet, we're supposed to believe the final result,” Gainor said. “Why?”
Ronna McDaniel
@GOPChairwoman

CNN isn’t even trying to hide its bias on border security anymore. Yesterday, Acosta’s stunt at the wall backfired and now this.https://twitter.com/KUSINews/status/1083568597903929344 …
KUSI News
@KUSINews

DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall told Fox News that there could be several explanations for what CNN has been accused of.
“It is possible that the contact with KUSI was from a lower level CNN associate producer or somebody who was just doing background and didn't have any real authority for agenda setting,” McCall said. “I think a big problem in reporting about border walls is that news organizations appear to be pushing simple narratives that walls either work or don't work. CNN's reports appear to take the ‘walls don't work’ approach.”
McCall said the matter is actually much more “complex and nuanced” than simply noting whether or not walls work.
“Reporting about the complexities of border security is difficult and the topic doesn't lend itself well to the general superficialities of television news,” he said. “The news reporting about a border wall or fence is currently being driven by emotion, which does lend itself to television, but is probably not the most effective way to be making public policy decisions.”

CNN to be sued for more than $250M over 'vicious' and 'direct attacks' on Covington High student: lawyer

By Liam Quinn | Fox News

Nick Sandmann's attorney reveals lawsuit against CNN

CNN is likely to be hit with a massive lawsuit worth more than $250 million over alleged “vicious” and “direct attacks” on Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann, his lawyer has told Fox News.
Lawyer L. Lin Wood discussed his decision to sue CNN for its reporting and coverage of his client during an interview that will air on Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

“CNN was probably more vicious in its direct attacks on Nicholas than The Washington Post. And CNN goes into millions of individuals' homes,” Wood told Fox News host and best-selling author Mark Levin.
COVINGTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT'S LEGAL TEAM SUES WASHINGTON POST
CNN couldn't resist the idea that here's a guy with a young boy, that Make America Great Again cap on. So they go after him
— Lin Wood, attorney
“They really went after Nicholas with the idea that he was part of a mob that was attacking the Black Hebrew Israelites, yelling racist slurs at the Black Hebrew Israelites. Totally false.
“Now you say you've seen the tape; if you took the time to look at the full context of what happened that day, Nicholas Sandmann did absolutely nothing wrong. He was, as I've said to others, he was the only adult in the room. But you have a situation where CNN couldn't resist the idea that here's a guy with a young boy, that Make America Great Again cap on. So they go after him.”
Wood continued: “The CNN folks were online on Twitter at 7 a.m retweeting the little one-minute propaganda piece that had been put out. … They're out there right away going after this young boy. And they maintain it for at least two days. Why didn't they stop and just take an hour and look through the Internet and find the truth and then report it? Maybe do that before you report the lies.”
CONSERVATIVE LEADERS DEMAND APOLOGY FOR MEDIA TREATMENT OF COVINGTON STUDENTS
Wood then detailed the timing of the suit, saying it will be issued “Monday, Tuesday at the latest.”
“I've got some young, smart lawyers that are working hard as we can," he told Levin. "Double-checking, and listen, when we file complaints, we've investigated it because we want to get it right. Maybe CNN can learn from that."
Fox News has reached out to CNN representatives for comment on the pending litigation.
Wood filed suit last month against The Washington Post. The suit calls for $250 million in compensatory and punitive damages over the paper's coverage of the confrontation, an encounter that went viral on social media. He told Fox News that the claim against CNN is apt to be even higher.
DAD OF COVINGTON STUDENT NICK SANDMANN BACKS KENTUCKY'S ANTI-DOXXING BILL IN EMOTIONAL TESTIMONY
“I expect because of the way they went after Nicholas so viciously, that the claim for his reputational damage will be higher than it was against The Washington Post,” the veteran attorney said.
[COLOR=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2)]Video

“The Post was $50 million for the reputational damage … $200 million in punitive damages -- punitive damages are designed to punish and to deter.
“I would think the punitive-damage award against CNN that we’ll seek will be at least the same $200 million as it was against The Washington Post. But the compensatory damage to Nicholas's reputation, that number I expect will be higher.”
COVINGTON HIGH STUDENT'S LEGAL TEAM SLAMS WASHINGTON POST EDITOR’S NOTE, SAYS PAPER ‘DOUBLE DOWNED ON ITS LIES’
The lawsuit against The Washington Post accused that outlet of practicing "a modern-day form of McCarthyism" by targeting Sandmann and "using its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles ... to smear a young boy who was, in its view, an acceptable casualty in their war against the president."
Several days ago, The Post published an editor’s note admitting that subsequent information either contradicted or failed to confirm accounts relayed in its initial article. The editor’s note was not satisfactory to Sandmann’s legal team.
Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic High School, became a target for outrage after a video of him standing face-to-face with a Native American man, Nathan Phillips, while wearing a red Make America Great Again hat surfaced in January. Sandmann was one of a group of students from Covington attending the anti-abortion March for Life in Washington, D.C., while Phillips was attending the Indigenous Peoples' March on the same day.

Sandmann and the Covington students were initially accused of initiating the confrontation, but other videos and the students' own statements showed that they were verbally accosted by a group of black street preachers who were shouting insults at them and the Native Americans. Sandmann and Phillips have both said they were trying to defuse the situation.
Last month, investigators hired by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington concluded that the students did not instigate the confrontation with Phillips. Bishop Roger Foys, who initially condemned the students' behavior, wrote in a letter to parents that they had been "placed in a situation that was at once bizarre and even threatening."
