Fester I'm not using them as the face of Christianity, just as the face of Christians that want to force their morality on the public, like the guy this thread is referring to

I wish these religious people would stay out of everyday life and let everyone live freely without giving there "Religious Opinions". Its not 100 AD , stop trying to control the masses with your unscientific bullshit

But that would be restricting freedom of speech. Not everyone can think entirely for themselves true..you can be hoodwinked by religion, Hitler, the KKK, the far left, the far right...Ive learned just as much about life from religious people as A have atheist or agnostics and everywhere in between. Im happy.. not being an easily defined person or boxed in or stereotypical. Its human nature for most people to be this or that...to feel like they belong to something whether its new age hippie or christian fundamentalist...Im most proud that I have friends who if you put them all together in a room you would find a very wide array of people, personalities, etc. This is the main reason I have disdain for the modern Democratic party because it seems to promote the very opposite of this. But I think most politicians are crooked anyway from all parties

For one thing, any type of gambling is dangerous. Look at what happened to the Shrink. His case is not unique. I would say tens of thousands commit suicide every year because of gambling losses and/or gambling addiction. And probably hundreds of thousands more lose everything and just continue to exist. One of my good friends shot and killed himself because he lost everything betting on football.

And religion is not unscientific. Nothing written in the Bible has been proven to be untrue but so much of it has been proven to be true. Most scientists, doctors, lawyers (insert any profession here) in the USA are actually Christians. Yes that is a fact. Depending on what poll you go by, between 70-77% of the USA is Christian. These numbers are consistent no matter what IQ level, race, or gender you consider. Our country was founded by Christians. As more Mexicans pour in, our country becomes more and more Christian because the vast majority of Mexicans are Christians.

I am a Christian and although I do recognize the dangers of gambling, I don't think it's anybody's place to tell anyone they can't gamble. But to say that there is no danger is just ignoring facts.

I tried to edit my above post but too late. To add to it....the intentions of those religious people trying to stop gambling are good. They are trying to stop what happened to the Shrink and so many others. There is no political motive or any other motive behind it. It's out of love for fellow man. Remember that most people lose money. And a very large percentage of those people cannot handle losing money so they chase again and again.

With that being said I disagree with the people trying to stop gambling. I don't think adults should be told what to do with their money. Our country was built on gambling. Opening a business is gambling. Coming to America on ships was a gamble.

The religious guy said " poker may have some skill but it is luck, just because you want an ace doesn't mean you'll get an ace."

but in the next breath he would say...however if you pray for an ace you will get it..

sammy if you believe that then you have to restrict people from drinking, swimming, driving, going outside and every other thing in life because it could cause death. i understand what you are saying and im sorry your friend committed suicide after betting on football but truth be told i guess he would have become addicted to something else and the same result would have happenned. i dont think anyone should tell people what to do with their hard earned money.
